I don't care about hip. The Block "O" and the "M" are not hip. They are still quite popular throughout the country. Get rid of the retail crap logo altogether, and put the traditional logo on everything; marketing, clothing, etc. There will be no confusion that way.
I'm sorry, I like the old logo very much and hate the new logo even more...I'm probably not in the majority with this opinion.

I hate the new logo. I think it is ugly and it reminds me of Miami's. The old logo is unique.hammb wrote:I don't care about hip. The Block "O" and the "M" are not hip. They say the new logo is for marketing, but it seems to me that the old logo is much better and, therefore, more marketable.

I expect the traditional Falcon logo is still being used by media because BGSU hasn't bothered to crack the whip on making them use the retooled traditional logo. Resources are scarce, and it wouldn't be a wise use of them.
On artistic merit, design, etc., I think the retail mark works best of the lot. It is impossible to be objective about art and design and what not, but I am firmly convinced on this point and would suggest that an impartial panel of graphic designers would probably agree if one could be created.
Tradition is clouding this discussion. I love tradition. Love brown, hate black, etc. So I get tradition.
But I would also submit if the retail mark had dated back to 1970 (if not earlier) as our athletic symbol and the traditional mark was being put forward as an alternative for selling everything from hats to pillows, I suspect people around here would be a lot more freaked out than they are now.
Because, again, I firmly believe that objectively speaking, the retail mark is the best looking of the lot.
A lot of us are having a hard time seeing that because we are so comfortable with what we are used to.
