Some good news about the field.

Post by bacn3 »

My dad just informed me today that the university bought some grass seed from him today. I guess they want to reseed it for this coming season. He said that they hope to be working with him for a while. So field turff is not in the near future.

Do you want to know how to make Bleeding Orange a happy panda? THIS is how you make Bleeding Orange a happy panda! :D

Now if we could only invest in some more sprinklers before the Turdledo game...

My dad said it's the same grass used by the Brown's and Bengal's. The guy that my dad is working with on the project said that there are some defects but they are working with it and they should have the grass perfect by next year. I don't know what grass defects are, but I’m sure the grass will defect again before a certain big game in November

Hate to break it to ya, but the Bengals put in field turf last year, so unless they have some new and improved grass seed, it's not the same as the Bengals.

Doesn't reseeding just mean they add seeds to the existing grass...maybe after they ariate it with holes like they do to golf greens?

I seriously doubt this means replacing the turf already there.

Early April, actually. Turfgrass requires aeroation, seed and weed-n-feed twice a year. Once in the fall, once in the spring-time.

I'm sure this grass purchase was the second installment.

OK… because there isn’t a home game for like seven weeks, the university has purchased some grass seed from my father to get the field ready for this season. No they are not putting down all new grass they are just adding this seed to what is already there now. The thinking is that this seed is the state of the art grass seed and that come November the grass will still be there and looking nice. The university wants a “good looking field for our national TV games”. Because the university is spending the money for the good seed now my father believes that next spring they might rip it out and start over with this new and improved grass seed. I don’t like the idea of field turf at BGSU so this was good news to me and hopefully to some others on here too.

Agreed man. Anything that keeps artificial turf away from BG I'm happy with.
