BGSUfanatUT,
I say God bless you sir. As a BGSU student, I would say that you would be hard pressed to find a Toledo fan among our ranks (further proving that we are a superior institution!). And don't liken yourself to a man in a wheelchair. If anything, you are most like a man in the depths of hell who resides on the moral high ground!
Just out of curiosity, though, why don't you go to BG? If you are an art student we have a wonderful art program in several different mediums. Just curious...

I am a civil engineering student. sadly, BGSU doesn't have an engineering college at all, so I cant go there. I cant afford to go out of state, so I'm limited in my selection here, I would kill myself b4 going to osu, nor do i want to be in the cleveland area (no offense to anyone) Thus, my remainign choices are:
Toledo
Ohio Northern
Cincinnati
I wanted to go to UC. My paranoid mother however, thought I would get murdered or smething, and said "it's too far away" ... I'm not kidding.
I applied and was accepted to both UT and ONU. ONU is a private methodist school and costs in the $35k range per year, fortunatly they gave me a dump truck full of money, and made it the same cost as UT (UT was very stingy on scholarships for a 32 ACT score I think) So basically money wasnt a factor in choosing. Toledo has a more widely known name in teh engineering field, and has better facilities, plus, if you have been to Ada(where ONU is) you will find a stop sign(maybe) and ONU. So thats how I wound up there. My uncle is 1961 civil eng. grad at ONU, so the family wanted me to go there, but they agreed UT was probably better. But believe me, if BG had an eng. school, I'd transfer in a heartbeat.
Im in cinci now for an internship at Cinergy, formerly CG&E, and ill be back into hell this january. But not b4 we win one in teh glass bowl, the one game where I get in free, and you all have to pay..... plus i get some priceless looks from teh old UT alums working the gates when I walk in in solid orange all painted up WIG included, and get in with a rocket card.

It would be awesome if someone could get a picture of you coming in with your BG gear on handing the ticket guy a ROCKET card!! The look on that guy's face would be worth the price of admission to the A$$ Bowl!!!BGSUfanatUT wrote:plus i get some priceless looks from teh old UT alums working the gates when I walk in in solid orange all painted up WIG included, and get in with a rocket card.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Thanks for the info from everyone. I am glad to see that someone didn't have a bad time last time we visited NI.
Fanatic,
The tent at 5 sounds great, but then I looked at my flight schedule and the drive to Dekalb from Midway, and realized we will probably be lucky to have time to get to the game on time. At least the tent will be a safe harbor if things are looking a bit unfriendly. I am sure it will be fine!

Several people have posted about delays due to road construction and 8 - 10 hours should be expected. Unless of course you drive about 120 m.p.h. when the traffic is moving.BGSUfanatUT wrote:How long is the drive to NIU from BG? I read to allow 8 hours with construction? Can anyone verify this? I asked my friend that is driving if he hs any speedign tickets, he said no. I then informed him he will have the pedal mashed to the groud cuz he has a foul to give still. 1 ticket doesnt matter so we can afford to cruise.

Ok Everyone. I just went to Chicago this past weekend. Left Friday morning at 10:30am. I got to the Ohio/Indiana border at 12:05, not to bad, only an hour and a half to go the 87 miles (I-75 and Ohio Turnpike). In Indiana from Mile Marker 154 where the turnpike starts, to Exit #24. It took me 3 hrs and 45 minutes. There is major bridge work on lots of bridges in Indiana. Then to go 24 more miles on I-90 (Sky-Way), which is less constrctions that I-80 to the south of Chicago, well these 24 miles took me 2 hours and 15 min. I got to the Chicago city limits at 6pm, exactly, which with the time difference is 5pm. By that time you get into all 3 million Chicagoans trying to leave work on the Eisenhower (1-290) heading towards Dekalb. I got to St Charles, IL. which is 25 miles East of Dekalb, at 6:35pm (local time - 7:35pm) Ohio time. Add another 45 minutes to get Dekalb and I would have made it to Dekalb at 7:15, missing the beginning of the game. Now I have made this trip on Monday, Wednesday Friday and Saturday, and no matter what time I leave, or what route I take, it always takes me about 9 hours to get to St Charles, IL. It reallt s$cks out there with all the construction. Alternante route. I dont have any suggestions. Even flying will still put you into rush hour traffic heading toward Dekalb. I just hope the Falcon Club bus gets there in time.

well thats not a good sign, maybe ill have to drive myself anyway. I think its about a 6 hour drive from cinci, and it it a straight shot through Indy.
Will anyone else be there early afternoon to tailgate or something? I'll gladly bring some food/beverage to share.

If you are going from Indy, once you get closer to Chicago/Gary Indiana, DO NOT!!!!! I repeat, DO NOT, take I-65 all the way to I-80 or I-90. Take RT 30, West. You will go through several small towns, and it will seem like you are driving forever, but you do not want to go on the Interstates in Chicago.
Take Rt 30, West, past Joliet, IL. You will then go past I-55, continue west 10 more miles to RT 47. Head North about 20 miles on RT 47, you will passs through several towns. Yorkville, Sugar Grove and the outside of Aurora. After you pass Sugar Grove you will come to I-88. Head West on
I-88, towards Dekalb. About 15 miles once you get on I-88.
Good luck!

An Alternate Route, if you like scenic routes, still will save you time, but it will seem like it will take forver. You can always Take RT 30, all the way until you get past Chicago. Easiest way is to take RT 6, or RT 24, until you get to I-69. Take I-69, south to FT Wayne until you pick up RT 30, then continue on RT 30 until you go past Joliet, IL then read my other post.
