After Game Thoughts from the Big House

I attended my first game ever at Michigan.
Stadium...huge but not impressive once you get past the size. Outdated. Small press box in comparison to many. No sky boxes. No lights (never realized that)
Restrooms outdated.
I believe that they are trying to get a renovation project going which it needs badly. Wisconsin's satdium blows them away.
Parking..very expensive..$40 to park across the street. $20 standard fee no matter where you parked.
Easy access in and out.
We gave the game away with key fumbles which makes the score deceiving.
(1) We hold on 3rd down but an offsides gives them a first down and they go ahead and score
(2) We fumble on their 13 on a drive that we were moving right down the field
(3) We fumble a punt inside our 15 at the end of the half and they score.
27-10 at half time could easily have been 20-17
We gave up only 2 field goals in the second half and had one of ours blocked.
They played with a short field most of the game. Great field position for them.
No pressure on their QB. Like you we are undersized on D line but still managed to stay in the game.
We lost one of our starting Off Tackles prior to game due to academic problems. Can't understand that. How can a player on scholarship not keep his grades up to at least minimum standards?
They kept posting your score during our game. We all were rooting for the MAC but it was a tough day for our conf.
NIU fans turned out. Estimated 5,000 to 6,000 fans but they had us scattered in 3 groups around the stadium.

NIU played as good as michy except for the turnovers. It could have been a very interesting game. No offense to NIU, but as a secondary Michy fan, I have conceded any hope of them being nat'l title contenders. They will not survive the schedule with that defense. They are really bad tacklers and seem to be a step behind Wolfe all day.

Sounds like you luckily missed out on the worst part of that stadium. By sitting in the press box you didn't get to experience the joy of fitting your butt in a 3 inch wide patch of bleacher.

The Big House is the worst place I've ever been to watch a football game...

Actually my seats for Miami vs. OSU... were the worst seats I have ever had... 60 bucks to sit in the last row of B Deck where you see 60% of the field, it was at least 90 degrees under the rafters, no wind to speak of.... and you get little information from anything....

Big House is different for sure.... but I had a great time there.

OSU did everything it could to pack every last row into that stadium... It would alot better with 4,000 seats removed....

it was pretty cramped at Camp Randall...I hate it at stadiums like that and Kenan Memorial in Chapel Hill where yor knees are in the backs of the people in front of you.

Really? Fascinating. How so? Are people going to the bathroom differently these days? Or, are they just wierd up in MI. I guess maybe times are changing more than I realize.

I agree, Hammb. The BIg House is a friggin hole in the ground, no character to it. We went to MajorFalcon's party yesterday in Columbus and took the Freaklings to see the SHoe....even though we couldn't get in, that place is a mecca. I can't stand OSU anymore but that Ohio Stadium is AWESOME...expect for the $4 bottles of water they sell on game day.

I'll take the Shoe over the Big House any day.

Even as a michigan fan i have to agree. Big house is unimpressive to everyone who isn't a michigan fan or wrapped up in the lore. I haven't seen a football game at the shoe but I saw Metallica play there and it was a pretty nice place.

I spent the third quarter in Section X, and those seats were very tight. The rest of the game. Through a miracle, we lucked into some tickets at the last minute in Section U, and those seats were fantastic, and not cramped.

I was at the NIU game. While I did find it hard to cheer agianst you, I must say that the U of M roots and upbringing came out. You guys played a hard fought game, and don't have anything to ashamed of. You had some of the same problems it seems that we were having in Madison. Although they never really could get Wolfe's number. Tell you what, I am glad we don't have to play you this year, except for a possible date in Detroit. You guys will be a force to be reconed with in the West!

This was my 1st game at the Big House in several years, and I had forgotten the realities of Ann Arbor on game day. Arm and a leg for parking, getting parked in on the golf course so that I couldn't leave if I wanted to, watching a game with 111,000 of your closest friends. While it was really cool, and me and my brother had a great time, I think I perfer going to games at BGSU. Granted, I've never been to a game other than spring game where I wasn't in the marching band, I still would rather go to a game here. The football is everybit as good, and the atmosphere is much more friendly. I can't wait to see ya'll on Saturdays!
