Yes, I know that TCU is not the only one, but they don't have alot of competition. For instance, how many other D-1 Christian schools are in the state of Texas or even nearby?

As I said in another thread, big dumb kids are a dime a dozen in Texas.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:TCU doesn't have better (bigger) atheletes because they're a christian university. They have better (bigger) atheletes because they're in friggin' Texas.
There are only two things Texas produces: steers and queers.
Texas football teams recruit steers.
**bonus** - name the movie that inspired that quote. The prize? I GIANT gift basket full of absolutely nuthin'!

If Miami (FL) is a Christian school, why do all of their cheerleaders look like professional strippers?transfer2BGSU wrote:Duke is a Christian school. So is Northwestern. In Texas - Rice, Southern Methodist, and just for Botox - BAYLOR!BelieveNBG wrote:... how many other D-1 Christian schools are in the state of Texas or even nearby?

I may be incorrect about Miami (FL) - I thought they were affiliated with the United Methodist denomination but I am unable to verify that with my UMC Colleges and Universities Guide.

I agree with the facilities argument, but the other argument falls short, I think.BelieveNBG wrote:First of all, Utah is gonna have an easier time at getting those athletes than BG. Their facilities are top notch, state of the art (much better than BG). Secondly, there isn't exactly alot of competition for finding the guys is Utah. There is BYU, but thats about it for D-1 competition. We have 6 D-1 schools in the MAC alone, not counting the other surrounding BCS schools in the midwest nearby.
First, Utah has three Division I-A programs -- the third is Utah State.
More importantly: Utah is thinly populated, and it doesn't have a reputation for producing talent the way Ohio does.
Utah is home to 2,233,169 people -- or about 744,000 people per I-A program.
Ohio has 11,353,140 residents -- or about 1.4 million per I-A program.
And, again, pound for pound, I think our kids are probably more talented than Utah kids.

Yeah it probably helps in recruiting when you can say "And here is our football stadium, the Olympics were held here."Schadenfreude wrote:I agree with the facilities argument,BelieveNBG wrote:First of all, Utah is gonna have an easier time at getting those athletes than BG.
