1. It is very clear that year in and year out in all of D1a football there are those 20 teams which are a notch above the all the rest in D1....The U, OSu (buckeyes) Mich, FSU, FL, Texas, Penn, Oklahoma, Nd?, WI, to name 10 that most likely be named by anyone in to that list of twenty...twenty teams who could in fact be spun off from D1 and put into the "BCS confrence" where by they would have two diviison ie BCS east and WEst, a play off the top four teams and a championship game. Leaving the rest of D1 to have an NCAA playoff. It make sense..the BCS gets thier special money, and two D1 Oc Games and bolw match ups with the rest of D1 schools not part of the BCS confrence...
yet antother solution to the BCS Mess.
2. There are clearly teams in d1a that have no business in D1, they are not productive and in the cases I speak of they are not in a down cycle or rebuilding, but have not even had a wining season in 10 or more years, or not sice moving up....
It leaves me to wonder from an Athletic dept perspective why would you stay...esp when in AA you could be competitive....any thoughts, I am realy at loss....if I were for example AD for Temple, I would have sought out to play against holy cross, forham and been competitve...the program is clearly not making anymoney, and in this case it just keeps getting worse and worse...I would rather be competitve in aa than be not have a shot...any shot in a...
Two questions.

I think they were actually pretty decent questions, although the wording may be going over some people's heads.
(1) I think there is too much power in the conference offices to see a complete restructuring of the system right now or anytime soon. Its an interesting theory, though. As compelling as it sounds, I truly hope that the BCS never wields that much power. I don' know if the NCAA could even claim nominal sovereignty over the game at that point.
(2) This is an even better point. I don't know why in the world some of these schools, like Temple, keep running teams out there that simply can not compete with anyone. All they are doing is driving away fans and putting the health of a bunch of under-sized kids in jeapordy just to get shut out with 70 points staring them in the face. In Temple's case, I really hope that the move to the MAC will make them competative again, but their lack of depth is not of this division. I've watched both of their first two games, and it is appalling how badly they are being beaten. DII would make a nice home (and a competative home) for some teams in this situation.

I am...
to break it down...in "simplistic" depth lacking lang...that if used initially would have gotten me flamed....
Should the top schools in D1 be spun off into a new bcs confrence composed of east and west division, where by the OC games would remain against at large D1 schools, and playoff between the top two schools from east and west...ie #1 west plays #2 east and #2 west plays #1 east the winers play then for the BCS Championship. Allowing then for D1 ( all remaining teams, ) who would in turn be realigned and recieve a seperate D1 Championship with playoffs between conference winers.
2. Are there not just some teams whos presence in d1 a are realy unjustifyed as the programs are not competitive and or never have been, and shouldnt those schools want to move down to a Div where they would be competitve, or shouldnt they just get the big toe?
is this easier to understand? Or A R E Y OU F R O M TOLEDO?
