Ohio's QB Sneak TD (or was it??)

Post by Dayons_Den »

So I haven't seen the replay only in person but maybe someone who watched it on TV can tell me- did Everson sneak it accross the goal line or not?

From my view I thought no way the call it a td. Then after the pile starts getting peeled away all of a sudden the LJ comes in and signals Touchdown.

This makes no sense to me. It doesn't matter where the ball carrier lands, or where the ball is on the bottom of the pile or if even BG had the ball- if the ball broke the plane of the endzone during the play that is the TD, right then, no time to think about it.

I don't mind if they make a mistake or a bad call but at least make some sort of sense with the situation.

I thought the same thing. If he was in, you call it when he lands. Not after 15 second when he has a chance to reach the ball accross the goal after he was already down.

I think there was a big enough pile up that the officials couldn't see where the ball was we he went down, so they had to wait until it cleared out a little so they could see what happened.

I didn't think he made it but as WH said, prolly was tough trying to find the ball under that mass of humanity.

I was watching the play with binoculars and Everson bobbled the ball on the snap and was lurching forward while trying to regain control of the ball as he disappeared into the pile. I thought he at least made the first down (they needed to get to the one-yard line), but as for a TD.....who knows?

He looked way short to me. Looked like he was stopped at the 1 yard-line, so I was as surprised as anyone to see TD signaled.
