PJ Pope's Playing Status

Post by BGSU33 »

Judging from the quotes on the website, I wonder if PJ is going to sit the UB game out or what? It talks about him being banged up, and he's been that way all season, but it never really said if he was expected to play or not. I was wondering if anyone knew if he was going to play this weekend or if the plan was to sit him out again for a week like they did when he missed the Ball State game? Any ideas? I guess I would like to see him sit this week out, with the idea in mind that we won't need him against Buffalo. Then again, I felt the same way heading into the Ball State game and we found ourselves down 31-28 in the fourth quarter.

I say he sits this game. You can tell that Coach Brandon feels terrible about PJ's injury, it being his senior year and all. When everybody was talking about how great Omar was going to be this year he always reminded people that we have a good running back too.

Sad, but necessary.

B.J. Lane showed me something Saturday. He looked like a quality senior back running with authority ... which is what he and we should expect. He should be able to shoulder the load again Saturday with Bobby Thomas spelling him.

If we are as good as I suspect, we shouldn't need P.J. to win Saturday. We will, however, need him for that late stretch run.

I say keep P.J. out for the next 2 games and slowly bring him back against Akron, a bit more playing time against Kent State, and see if he's ready to go full speed against Miami.

It's too bad for PJ. Before this season it looked like a lock that he would leave as the all time leading rusher and TD scorer.

That's true, Kdog. He was only 740 some yards away from Dave Preston's career mark.

I hate to see PJ on the sidelines his SR year like this but we NEED him healthy for the stretch run. Lane and Thomas can do the job for sure. PJ is a great leader and won't dwell on the negative.

Yeah, I feel bad for PJ too, but this will hopefully will be a chance for him to get healthy and ready to go for the stretch run. Let's hope Lane and Thomas are ready to go and have another good weekend on Saturday.
