How would you rate the Bowling Green fb student section?
I am tallying up information to get a better idea of which MAC football programs have the best student sections. Feel free to post your comments below as any info is greatly appreciated.
In recent years our students support has been wonderful, IMO. We pull in > 25% of our student population on any given Saturday and I think that's pretty impressive. You cannot expect much more...what % of your population doesn't even care about football? It seems to me that it has gotten to where a large number of kids who grew up BCS football fans have been foregoing their childhood favorite teams to attend the games. This will change as the weather gets colder, obviously, but on the whole it's pretty good.
Without a doubt the student section is always loud and into the games. The rest of our crowd leaves something to the imagination, but the student section is always into it.

We've been getting lots there, but in general we have a pretty "football dumb" student section. I see a decent number of girls reading books during the games and people talking on their freakin cellphones all game long. A lot of students also don't understand the whole "be quieter when we are trying to audible" thing.
There are a lot of good things about the student section though. As someone who has started many a BG.....SU cheer down there, I've never been left hanging when trying to start a cheer. There seems to be a good mob mentality in our SS.

Roll Along!
I'd say our hockey SS is much better than our football, but we've gotten better.

That's about where I come down. They are very supportive in terms of getting to the games and cheering -- we can't expect any more, I don't think -- but they aren't creative or well-timed with chants or noise.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:We've been getting lots there, but in general we have a pretty "football dumb" student section.
