True Frosh to start for WMU at QB...and other stuff

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Since Ryan Cubit went down, Tim Hiller will start against BGSU. Hiller is from Orrville HS and had a great game vs Ball State....20-27 for 308 yards and 5 TD's. I can tell you since my HS alma mater, Dover, usually plays Orrville every year, this kid is gonna be a good one. He tore up at Orrville.

And just like Ohio U, WMU had a bye week before playing us.

Gotta be ready to take care of business. WMU is 100th in the nation in pass defense at 267 ypg. They also give up an average of 166 ypg on the ground. WMU is #103 nationally in total defense and #108 nationally in scoring D.

We should be able to move the ball and score. WMU's offense can move the ball and score as they average 30 ppg. Our D will be tested more than any game since Boise State.

GO FALCONS!!!

Falconfreak90, I think we talked about how close our high schools were at one point and time but I have forgotten. Dover has a good team this year, they smacked my Colts around pretty good (49-0). But when you fumble the ball 4 times in the first quarter it is hard to overcome a 28-0 lead at the end of one.

But bringing it back to BGSU, this is good news for us. A fresh quarterback ending up on his back a few times early in the game could rattle the kid and allow us to run all over them on both sides of the ball.

WMU's Hiller has done a very nice job for a true-frosh. Hiller also has a better TD/INT ratio than Jacobs does. Hiller is 7/1, Jacobs in 20/5. Before anyone jumps at this, I'm not saying he's better than Jacobs, it's just a stat that stood out to me. Omar is better. :)

Journey,

Yeah, 4 TO's will kill ya almost every time. Dover has been rolling since losing to Northwest, 44-37 in week 3. Dover has 3 shutouts this year so far.

Meadowbrook is still having a good year, no? Were you not undefeated or have just one loss before the Dover game?

Dover plays Indian Valley this week and then, the hated New Phila Quakers at home on the 28th...which we will attend. NP lost to Cambridge this past weekend for their first loss of the year. Oops, sorry about that.

We feel the same for NP as we do UT. Nuff said.

Journey,
Buffalo also used a true frosh QB, and from the sound of the radio broadcast, he didn't do too badly against us, at least until we got better pressure on him late in the game..... This WMU QB, in my opinion, is better than the UB kid...he's from NE Ohiio and his credentials are pretty solid, as the Freak has already mentioned. I'm only hoping to see
BG play a more complete game, INCLUDING special teams, which have truly been the bane of this team so far, even more so than the D, which gives up too many rushing yards even now, OU excluded.

I remember the HUGE scare WMU gave us in 2002, when we had to rally several times from 14 points down to beat them in overtime, 48-45. WMU only finished 4-8 that year and we finished 9-3 and were ranked that season. The game was also played in BG. That was a war.

FF90, That was our second loss of the season, so we are now 6-2. We also just fell out of the top 8 in the playoff rankings. Philly beat us as well. It looks like Dover is in the drivers seat for another ECOL title. Yea, Meadowbrook is having its best season since 1994, we went 6-4 that year and split the league with Cambridge (blaaaa) and Claymont. This is our coaches third year and he is putting together a program from 6th grade up. He came in after an 0-10 season and followed that up with one of his own. I think we won 3 games last year, and 6 this year. So we are talking about quite a turn around. If we win out which means beating River View at home this week and Cambridge in week 10. That is our big rival since we are both in the same county so that game will be a war. The bobcats are a good team so it will be a fun game.

Buffalo's true freshman quarterback went 10 for 22 with 2 picks against our defense on his home field. I don't think we have to worry about a true freshmen hurting this defense.

Western also starts two true freshmen corners that will be matched up with Chuck and Steve Sanders.

Journey,

Sounds like you guys have a coach that is really building a quality program.
I think you'll beat River View...where is the Cambridge game? Dover blasted the Bobcats 52-21 AT Cambridge. Seeing them beat Phila didn't cause me to cry any tears.
Can you guys still make the playoffs with a couple wins? Best of luck to ya and it's good to see the Colts playing good ball.

Freak,

You want to take that Sandy Valley league nonsense to a different board?

Four and a half years of play under the present staff, a heap of conventional football wisdom and a gross underestimation of Greg Jennings failed me :x

He's just compensating for Brucie's weak arm.
