Benjy Kennedy, QB recruit, WR convert has been signaling in plays and wearing a headset. I would think he is next in line.
Also true freshman and hopeful redshirt Freddy Barnes has been doing the same as Kennedy but I suppose he would be the emergency QB.
Did anyone see AT on the channel 24 news? His quote was something like "I know every week I need to prepare like I am the starting quarter back and I didn't do that this week." He had tears in his eyes, made me feel for the guy and know that we CAN expect more out of him.

I spoke with AT after the spring game and I can tell you that this kid has his act together and will be a tremendous QB given some time. He is a lot like Harris and it took Josh several games to develop his niche.Dayons_Den wrote:Benjy Kennedy, QB recruit, WR convert has been signaling in plays and wearing a headset. Let's please don't crucify the poor kid for attempting to thrive in a near impossible situation.

Did anyone see Toledo play Fresno State without Gradowski? Cochran was pathetic and threw nothing but safe little short passes and bubble screens. AT ran our offense and threw 20 yard "in" routes and looked very good for someone that did not have a week to prepare like Cochran did. Let's see how he does when he gets all the snaps in practice this week.
I saw that DD. I was glad to see somebody showing some emotion about losing a game. And he recognized his faults and stepped up to the table and took some blame. This is a freshman. Don't you think there are some seniors who could stand to do the same?Dayons_Den wrote: Did anyone see AT on the channel 24 news? Like many of you have already said in response to the title of this thread, I don't think any of us ever wanted to see Turner playing “over” Omar, just that in games like Temple, it would have been nice to see Turner throw more than one pass. All he's done in games before WMU was handoff on running plays. Let's be honest, we all could probably step in and do that. Now I'm not saying he should have been out there gunning down field when it's 70-7, but if he's not going to get any pass attempts in a game like that, when is he? You can’t match in practice, or in a spring game for that matter, what he faced out there vs. WMU. That's why I thought letting him thrown on third downs vs. Temple couldn't hurt, just to sustain a drive through the air and face a pass rush. He wasn't going to lose the game for us in doing that.
I actually thought Turner looked okay vs. WMU. He did some nice things, and some not so nice things. But it was all about what I expected. I thought the things he struggled with most with was sustaining drives when we got across midfield. He seemed to move the ball between the 30s, and he threw for nearly 250 yards, but the offense just bogged down when we started getting closer towards the redzone. I think Turner is going to be a heck of a player, and playing in this game against WMU will only help him if he has to play against Akron or again later this year, and certainly down the road. The things he experienced against WMU won’t be matched in any practice.
Like Coach Brandon said, I agree, Turner’s more like Josh Harris in that he can also hurt you with his feet. Harris was awesome in that he was both a good runner and passer. I think Jacobs is a better passer than Harris was, but Harris was a much better runner than Jacobs is. I think Turner is a better runner than Jacobs is right now, but Jacobs is a better passer. None the less, if Turner can improve both his running and passing, he has the potential to be better than both Harris and Jacobs and that would be something!

I thought Turner did an OK job for the back-up with no experience.
Yes, he looked rough at first, but as the game went on, he appeared to be more in control. Some of those passes he zipped into coverage like he was the QB.
Yes, he made mistakes. But who on the team that played this past weekend did not.
I think Anthony Turner is going to do a good job for hte Falcons in the future.
