Exactly...

Do not even think that these guys don't care, they do. I just cringed Saturday when Coach Brandon came to Corey and asked him if he could go! There was no hesitation, Corey got up and put his helmet on. Even if he can't raise his arms above his head, he went in to try and produce, They want to win and they do have pride. Many are risking their health and well being to get into the game and try to win for BG and you fans. They deserve support.

What do you think it does to them, when they are down at halftime (and not necessarily an insurmountable margin) and they come out of the locker room and the stands have emptied. It kills whatever motivation they created while they are in there. At least stay until end of the 3rd quarter.

Many handle adversity in different ways. If some need to go out and blow some steam off then let them. They work extremely hard week in and week out. I know, I am very close to the situation, even closer now that Corey has been having so many physical problems. Try and remember these are young men in the 18-22 year range. They can't always overcome adversity, sometimes things begin to steam roll and can't be stopped no matter what efforts are made by the players or the coaches. Thats why they play the games, things happen and teams that are favored don't always win. And sometimes they get blown out.

We win the next 3 weeks and we are in the MACC and most likely a bowl game. That was the goal in the beginning and it is still in our hands.

After a week of taking all the reps in practice AT will rise up and beat Akron and he will be even better the following week at Kent. It will all be decided in Oxford and in case you didn't notice Miami is not setting the world on fire either. The MAC is much more competitive than it has been in awhile and that is good for the conference. There aren't any teams in the MAC that you can take for granted, cause they will come in and kick you in the shins if you do.

And yes, I actually took Corey out Saturday after the game. Say what you want, he needed that, he was very depressed and down. Both physically and mentally. We had some fun and did alot of talking, It seems to have re-energized him toward football, his physical therapy and his school work. Oh yeah, that's right, these guys have to do school work too. How do they find enough time in the day. And people question their dedication and desire. Give me a break.

I'm at a loss for words.

I was very embarrassed walking out of the Doyt after the final gun. As SF said, this was the most embarrassing loss since Buffalo in 2000.

I see very disturbing things on the horizon for our program if things don't get fixed pronto. I have been a supporter of Coach Brandon from day one. But, I must admit, I don't like some of the trends I'm seeing.

I would have had that team up at 5am doing the windsprints with buckets for puking Sunday morning. Then, get them to church to thank the Good Lord for their scholarships and opportunities here at BGSU.
I then would have had them back out on Sunday afternoon practicing until they couldn't stand.

This was inexcusable...and the lack of urgency and desire with some of the players trouble me greatly. I'll be at the Akron game. I'll be at the Kent game. I'll be at the UT game.

We are left with a 4 game season. We are in 1st in the East....but the door has been blown open for other teams.

Gimme a couple more days and and I'll be fine. It was just one game but I never expected that to happen. I can handle losses but not the variety that happened Saturday.

Like everybody else, I too am at a loss. That was just plain ugly football Sat. night. It seemed like BG could do nothing right (in spite of the stats --- that kind of say we played a good game). There was no emotion on the field (save for the Western players) and there was no emotion on the side-lines. We were out played, and Brandon was definitely, just totally outcoached. I can remember when it was 4th and about 3 for Western at midfield and they decided to go for it using a split formation (that I haven't seen in a long time), and the BG players didn't have a clue. Why in the hell didn't sombody call a time out. It was so obvious what was going to happen, and it did ----- they easily waltzed through for a first down. The BG boys got caught with their pants down. -------- Hopefully they can regroup this week and get focused on Akron. The wins ain't gonna be so easy from here on out. Akron is a gooooodddd ball club and we've always had that Miami Wammy thing hanging over us. ---------- And, in looking down the road, Brandon needs to do one hell of a recuiting job this year 'cause I don't see the likes of guys like Sharon and Sanders coming up. You'll note that Western beat us with their recruits -- 9 freshmen started. They're gonna be something else next year. How nice it would be if BG had recruited as well.

Most all of us know and appreciate what all Corey has done and tried to do this season. He is one of our bright spots and could be brighter if his wing would heal up. Going out with your dad and talking things over is absolutely the right thing to do. Going out and partying up town- umm- probably not. --

I think what many are saying is we would like our coaches to give these young men a better opportunity to succeed.

I think to a man and woman on here- Corey is excluded from what is being said- right people??????????????

Personally, I'm sick of reading all of this. It pisses me off to see people packing in the season midway through the season when your in the division lead.

I'm heading out for awhile until people grow the hell up and move on.

I don't question the effort of anyone on the offense from Saturday. They were in WMU territory on almost every possession after AT took over. They just did not execute well enough to score. That can be fixed.

On defense, I was thoroughly disappointed in the effort, especially after we scored to make it 31-14. A stop and quick score and we're right in it with time to spare in the 3rd quarter. The defense then let WMU go right down the field and score. It was pretty embarassing when they ran down the field in the last 5 minutes to score another TD as well.

Those are my last comments from the game. On to Akron. I think the boys will be fired up and ready to go come Saturday. I don't think they'll pack it in and neither should we. We're gonna see how much fight these guys have over the next couple weeks.

I haven't packed it in....but I'm trying to be realistic. I've gotten labeled as an "Orange glasses dude" and I don't have a problem with that. I have a very optimistic view.

But there are flaws that need addressed.

We have 4 games left. Win them all and we will play for the title. Nuff said.

Read the posts. As previously stated, going out to dinner with your parents or having a beer is one thing and partying is another.

Teams don't change 2/3's of the way through the season. Some players played, some didn't. The attitude of the players on the side line and Brandon's comments after the game were a bad, bad sign.

The attitude and personality of the team comes from coaching. The coaches need to change or be changed.

I hope they win out. I don't think they can.

I'm glad to hear this news. We obviously have a lot of work to do, and the season is far from over. I'm sure this was a message to the team. The thing is, with or without Omar, there's no way we should have gotten pounded like the way we did, especially at home. I can't wait to see the way this team responds against Akron.

I will say one thing re Brandon's comments....I don't think he's the kind of coach that likes to use the media to coach the team. My impression is that he prefers to do that "in house". For him to publically say that the problem defensively may be tied to effort (or a lack thereof) is a pretty big departure.

That's the beauty of the "kool aid." You don't know you are drinking it until its too late. You are like a chick who goes to a Harry Buffalo party and then wakes up naked in a strange bed the next morning and can't remember how she got there.

Spart,
I appreciate the fact the Cory went out and played despite his injuries. I am not questioning his desire at all. My problem is with the coach who asks someone who is hurt to go into the game. Obviously the plan was for Cory and Pope to sit this one out because of injuries. But as soon as Western went up two scores, he paniced and asked these guys to go in the game. Of course they said they could play. I would hope that any player would say yes to the coach if he asks if they can go. But the coach knew they were hurt and had decided at some point that they should sit this one out in order to heal. So why does the severity of their injuries change based on the score?

That's a valid point, Flip. How many of us really get a chance to see behind the scenes? We respond to what we are able to see and hear.

Let's just take out a whole boatload of frustration on those dang marsupials!!! A good azz kicking has a way of lighting the fire for the stretch run.

I've started feeling better already!
