WMU's Hiller named POW, numbers are Jacobs-like!

Post by BGSU33 »

Well, it's no surprise to see Hiller named the MAC West Offensvive Player of the Week after the show he put on for us. But the thing that really stands out to me, he's played in only three games and has a 10-1 touchdown to interception ration! That is simply awesome for a true freshman. Now I'm not saying he's going to thrown 41-4 like Omar did last year, but three games is about a fourth of a season and his numbers at this time are on pace for what Jacobs did last year. He obviously won't match that this year, but I'm very impressed, especially when you look at Jacobs this year at 20-5 and Turner at 0-3. I can certainly see why BG recruited this kid. He "could" be a star in the MAC if he continues to play like this and gets better in years to come.

I have already posted on MACBBS that I see a LOT of Big Ben in this kid. He is going to be a stud!!

Kind of unrelated but that Basanez kid from Northwestern has only thrown one interception in 265 throws this season. His qb rating is not off the charts because of his yards/attempt but that is quite impressive in the Big Ten.

I wasn't that impressed with Hiller's skills. His WRs were wide open, so how good of a QB does it take to put up good numbers. I didn't think his ball had a lot of zip on it. Several of them looked like punts floating down the field. IMO.

Punts, eh...so in a sense those long completions were more special teams breakdowns...

Well for a true freshman, making his first start, on the road, against what was considered one of the MAC's best teams, to put up those kind of numbers up and beat us that bad, I'd give him an A+ grade in the one game I've seen him.

I was with you until you got to the "best teams in the MAC" part. We may be leading the east, but our defense is positively horrid.

That dick Ron Musselman did a column about it.

I did state "what was considered" before "one of the MAC's best teams".....meaning at the time.

As for the article written, I made a post about that in the thread on the article saying that article should be copied and pasted in our locker room before every game we play here on out, given to Coach Brandon and pinned up around campus. If that doesn't light a fire under our team (it burned me up, I'll tell you that much) then I don't know what will? I also said I can't fault him for what he wrote either. It was his opinion, and in all seriousness, what was he wrong about? Probably not much.

My point was that our defense is so horrendous then can make people think a true freshman is the next Ben Rothleisbregruesadfopadfg.,
