I know it was just one play, and it was to just one player, but the play when Omar went down vs. WMU seems like it just ripped the heart and promise right out of our team, and out of our season. Right now, this almost feels like the kind of impact like the fake punt against CMU had on us in 1994. Watching us play after Omar went out vs. WMU and then again against Akron, I don’t even recognize the team in orange out there. I don’t. We’ve been punched in the mouth, twice, by two teams we should have beaten….on our home field none the less. When Omar went out last week, it’s like our team faded a decade into the past. I’m not seeing a 2005 MAC Champion favorite competing out there, I see a bad team, search for answers everywhere, and I’m just dumbfounded. I wouldn’t even expect this kind of play next year minus all the playmaking seniors we have on this team. We’ve scored 14 points in our last two games, at home. We looked shell-shocked. I can honestly say, right now, I think Temple could beat us at the Doyt and that is mind-boggling.
I know on paper, we still have a shot at the MAC East, etc. But I can’t even talk about that anymore. We won’t beat Kent State, let along Miami of Toledo playing like this. I don’t know what more to even say anymore???
It was 1 play, 1 player, but our season has spun 180-degrees

This team was in trouble regardless of what happened with Omar. We might have won the last two, but with the way our defense and special teams were playing we were in for a real struggle against Miami and Toledo.
Now we're in for a real struggle against Kent State. I was afraid for awhile in 2001 and 2002 that we could backslide to where we were in 2000. Well Akron just beat us at home in front of 9600 fans. I didn't think we'd fall that quickly.,

It's really unbelievable. Granted, we weren't setting the world on fire the last few weeks, but we looked a lot better than this. In the span of one week, from Saturday to Saturday, I can't believe how quickly our two-game lead in the MAC evaporated and how flat out bad we look. I actually thought our defense looked better this week than it did last week, but our offense struggled big time again and our special teams were still suffering.

Obviously, we'll never know, but I feel with a healthy Omar, we beat Akron today. But that's all but wishful thinking at this point. We had several chances today without him and didn't get it done. But I still feel like our season did a 180 right after he got hurt. We haven't even shown a few of the flashes we had shown prior to his injury. Just like the "fake punt," you found yourself wondering what happened after that play, and now again, I'm asking myself the same thing. It's like we're not even watching the same team anymore.
