How I Prepared for Tonight's Big Game

Post by bruejam »

I Falconized my cornhole!

Wait... that sounded bad. I don't post around here very often, but I thought this was a worthy occasion. An acquaintance works for some graphics company, and was able to print these logos on high-quality adhesive sheets. I managed to dig up the PDF file that the university posted when they came out with the new retail logo and font, played around with it to make the logos bigger, and he took care of the rest.

A friend of mine (former Miami student and Redhawk lover, no less) came over last night to give me a hand with the application. I think the only reason he agreed to help is because he wants me to help him apply the Redhawk logo to his boards, but it was nice to have an extra pair of hands.

Anyway, here are a few shots of the (sort of) finished product. I'm planning on adding a clear coat to protect the decals, and I may do brown stripes at the top and bottom of the boards, to reflect the stripes running along the center of the helmet. The pictures came out a bit dark, but I'll update them as progress continues.

I'd be VERY careful around the Freak- those may accidentally find their way into the FREAKmobile  NOT that I would ever think the FREAK would swipe anything.....But he can be very convincing! Especially with the FREAKLINGS on the loose!!!!!!

THEY ARE REALLY COOL!

They look very sharp. Definitely add a clear coat. In fact it should be applied to the whole top of the board. It helps with the bags in terms of sliding, and will help protect your paint job.

You think a clear coat will help keep the bags from sliding? I was afraid it would make them slide more.

My only concern is smearing the decals when I apply the clear coat. I was considering a spray-on clear coat to try and avoid that possibility, but I'm not sure how that would come out. Any advice on this would be appreciated. I really don't want to screw this up.

The bags are supposed to slide. The official rules at http://www.playcornhole.org recommend a high gloss finish. I have noticed that with out this or a clear coat finish the bags stick a lot easier than they should.
You could test it out on a scrap piece of adhesive if you have one, but I think clear coat is designed to keep things from smearing.

Me too. My ACAID# is 4866. Now I just need to do my part and hold an "official" tournament.
