MAC Championship set, NIU vs. Akron

I figured UT would have won the West this year with NIU coming in second, but NIU was finally able to beat UT and it helped pave the way to their first MAC Championship appearance. I thought the East would come down to BG or Miami, and it did in a way, but also with Akron. Like NIU, BG was finally able to beat the team it always struggled with (Miami), but couldn't beat the Rockets or protect its home field. If BG or Miami didn't win the East, I would have guessed maybe Ohio. I never would have guessed the Zips.

I think NIU will win the MAC Championship and the Motor City Bowl will probably snatch the Huskies up. I also think Toledo will be heading to a bowl game too. I think Akron could find itself home again for the holidays after being the only bowl eligible team (minus Clemson & South Carolina) that didn't go bowling last year if it loses to NIU. If that were to happen, it would mark the first time a divisional winner didn't go to a bowl. We'll have to wait and see.
