Honestly, the AP stinks on ice for all conferences. On the upside, at least they are consistent.

What's wrong with Bruce on the cover? Well for one, doesn't BG have other sports? Do we not have anyone in any other sport worthy of a cover picture?

It was a teaser to an inside story, not a full blown 6 column photo (which I may put in tonight just to piss you off). Again, we aren't owned by this school and can put whatever, wherever. If we never wanted to cover a BGSU sport again, we could. I don't see you complaining when the Toledo Blade puts BGSU stories in. Why aren't you bitching about them when they cover other schools besides UT?

Don't give me that "But the Blade is a professional paper and you are only a campus paper" crap either. FYI, there are campus papers bigger than professional papers. Don't believe me, read...

I'm abstaining from this discussion, though I know what I would be arguing about. Maybe that makes me a fool, too.

ah the local news, a complete reprint of every national, and global story that has been reported and sensationalized to death by the major media outlets, with a dash of "toledo" news and nothing about issues reguarding the areas that realy impact residents in the region, and forgive them but maybe one postive story a week. News outlets outside the major players=even more worthles.

Obviously, I'll disagree on that one.

Incidentally, was I seeing things, or along the top of the BG News yesterday did it say something about the GMAC bowl being in Memphis?

I can't speak to the fact of whether the BGNews said that or not. But what I can do is tell you Memphis is playing Akron in the Motor City Bowl. The GMAC is still being played in Mobile between Toldeo and UTEP. And the Liberty Bowl is still being played in Memphis, Tennessee between Tulsa and Fresno. Does that clear things up?

I'm not positive, but I think that probably has to do with Katrina...

No no, I know all that. (Or at least, most of it.) The reason I noticed it in the first place was because my first thought upon seeing it was, "What?? That's not right!" But I was just trying to make sure I wasn't mistaken in seeing it.... 'cause I'm too lazy to try to actually find a copy.

Nice little joke.

Sorry, this is not directed at you, but I'm sick of people on here thinking they know everything about everything. It's not just with the BG News, but with everything. People always saying they can coach better, can kick better, would start other people, etc. It's male-cow doo doo. If anyone on here could do better, they would be in that profession making money with it. These forums used to be fun to hear peoples casual opinions, now it's turned into a joke with everyone bashing most of our athletic teams because for some odd reason, they have all the right answers to everything and know everything about the ins and outs of our programs.

I stand by this quote. I really probably wouldn't care if BG got the attention they deserved elsewhere, but face it...BG is not well known. Based on the lack of coverage throughout the nation already, it would be nice if the Bowling Green Newspaper would focus on BG and let other stories be secondary. While I say this, I do recognize that the BG News has had some exceptional BG football stories this year that we all have enjoyed reading. However, it is quite frustrating when the team record is printed incorrectly, the score to a bowl game (considering we haven't been in many and a win in a bowl is huge for BG), the location of one of the few bowls that we are aligned with is incorrect, etc.

The reason for the flack is because of the market. Products are market driven and the major market for the BG News is Bowling Green. Anything that is incorrect as it relates to BG will probably be pointed out. By the same token, the major market wants the product to cater to them (BG sports, etc.). The BG News is one of the few sources for information about BG and if it is printed incorrectly here, the world outside of BG will believe it to be true. If we put UT on the cover, the world outside of BG will assume there is a love fest with UTs success  OK...I had to say that...lol.

Which makes you accountable for your decisions. You seem to feel the opposite.

(I have no problem with Bruce in the BG News, by the way).

Truer words have never been read by my seeing eyes, though you'll be accused of being a douche bag. Though I've been accused of doing this same thing with the BG News (although I never intended to), I'll stand by you on this one.

Saying the BG News can do what it wants is saying they are accountable for their decisions. People seem to think our decision is wrong, that's why I'm arguing. I don't mind having Bruce on the cover and will take blame for it. We cover BG sports, but we do cover other things as well. If you want peer BG sports coverage...log onto BGSUFalcons.com.
