hammb,
It's good to have all points of view on this. I wear orange glasses almost all the time and it can be hard for me to be objective on certain things.
But I do think BG is gonna be a title contender for a while....I don't see this massive downward spiral that some guys on other sites have suggested. We had a very disappointing year...that's for sure.
We'll be back in 2006.

It's painfully clear to me that the 2005 team was not as good as the 2004 team which was not as good as the 2003 team. Personally, I don't really want to see where that trend takes us. It's not bad enought that I want the guy fired, but I would certainly be happy to take our program in a new direction. I just think that it's a lot easier to maintain success at this level than it is to regain it once you're in the cellar, and I don't want to risk the above trend taking us to the cellar.
As somebody who listened to every word of his infamous 1470 interview, perhaps I'm putting too much weight on that, but that was the last straw for me. I'll continue to go to games, and continue to hope for great success for Gregg Brandon. I hope I'm dead wrong on my assessment of him as coach. But watching the steady decline of our team, coupled with what sounded like a defeated man who had NONE of the answers on that radio interview, I will not be sad to see him leave.
This is where I'm at too. That radio interview was all I needed to hear.

Did you HEAR the interview J4H, or just read the comments? It seems that those of us who actually heard it were more struck by the comments than those who read the quotes later.Jacobs4Heisman wrote: This is where I'm at too. That radio interview was all I needed to hear.
The Coach actually sounded as though he was waving the white flag and was ready to go into early retirement. After hearing that it will take a serious upward trend to regain my confidence in his abilities.

Yeah I heard it -- I'm the one who started that thread. I'm not sure I'll ever have confidence in GB's abilities again. I listened to about 15-20 minutes of it before vomit forced me off the road, then I listened to the whole thing because a buddy of mine taped it.

I heard it on my typical commute home from work. When I got home I was so stunned by what I was hearing that I had to sit in my driveway and listen to the interview in its entirety.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:hammb wrote:Did you HEAR the interview J4H, or just read the comments? [quote="MACMAN"]this is a buch of information that I have found around the web that may or may not be of interest. Stuff on Omar and his pro prospects, grades and bowl eligable, and Greg Brandons potential interview at San diego State ( i dont see why he would leave SDSU would be a lateral move in my opinion, but inverviewing is always a good thing. anyway many of you may have read this already.
quote]
Lateral move????
he would get to live in San Diego instead of Bowling Green?????

1987 - if this is true, that he IS interviewing....I am glad that we DID NOT make a bowl game. And I NEVER thought I would say that!!!!!!!!!! You and I feel the same way about the last guy who left for SDSU.1987alum wrote:Two words: Denny Stolz

AND, the president of SDSU, as has been stated before, is a BG grad and a great guy by the way.

I'm in the minority too...I do think 2006 is an important year for him though because it's getting to be his product.
And I wouldn't necessarily look at next years final standings either because with that OOC sched it's kind of like we're looking for the sure fire payday instead of chalking up Div 1AA wins to become bowl eligible.
At this time next year Krebs will have to assess whether we were competitive and did the team play to their potential. This year kind of looked like a "No"....but a single data point doesn't make a trend, or a downward spiral.
And lets not forget that the MAC Champion got there without facing OMAR and it took until the 3rd tie breaker....now what were those again if Ball State beat..........................

GB was emphatic at the banquet that "he wasn't going anywhere" and that he is here to "win championships" and that Omar should stay.
I can't imagine him being considered for anything other than an OC. He has a great offensive mind. He just doesn't have the mind set to pull the trigger. He also failed to prepare AT to take over. A limited offensive set for your backup? That's just stupid.
I wish him well, but even more, If he goes it opens the door for Stud. He loves BG and hates HATES losing.
This is just a Christmas wish.

Well, as for "not going anywhere" I refer you to "that's silly." Those promises are worth exactly what a GM's vote of confidence is worth.Falconwise wrote:GB was emphatic at the banquet that "he wasn't going anywhere" and that he is here to "win championships" and that Omar should stay.

As for Stud--that would certainly be a surprise. I would imagine that most of the people who think Brandon leaving wouldn't be the end of the world would view it differently if they thought Stud would be next.
Isn't that exactly along the same lines of what Urban said days before he left for Utah? I'm not saying Brandon will leave, but every time I hear someone say "I am not leaving," I start wondering and want to ask the question "why are you saying that, where were you possibly going?"Falconwise wrote:GB was emphatic at the banquet that "he wasn't going anywhere".

Ahhhh... I love that phrase...
So because there's an opening, it means Brandon is gone? I'll believe it when I see it.
