Alright, guys....tell me about Akron..
How good are the Zips? After the thrashing yall handed down to us in Alabama, and then seeing that they got the W over you guys this season, I'm a little worried....lol.
What can yall tell me about them? I know this is their first ever bowl game, so they should be bringing plenty of fans.

Well, Akron only has about 500 fans total, and most of those are family members of the staff and players. I think you guys will probably bring more than Akron.
The team itself is interesting. I thought they were terribly all year until the NIU game. They've played OK this year and rose to the top-middle of a bad conference. Hixon has been their biggest weapon, and almost single-handedly beat NIU. Biggs, the RB, is a small little battering ram who is a decent runner.
Williams will run for 2 bills easily in this game, like he would've against us last year had it not been for the injury. Wolfe ran for about 800 yards against them in the MACC so Williams should have a field day.
I almost don't know who to root for in this game -- Memphis and all their classy fans, or king and conference. I really don't care for Akron.

HLT,
Akron's defense has been very good this year. But NIU's Wolfe did tear them up for 270 yards in the MAC title game. I think Williams will be able to name his yardage.
The Zips are pretty solid on offense with Biggs, Hixon and Getsy. They have a young O line.
Akron is pumped right now and they're coming into the MCB on a tear.
Should be a great game. Good luck to Memphis!

Jacobs 4 and Freak have a pretty accurate assessment of the game. I think the key will be whether your secondary can contain (not shutdown) Hixon...maybe mix in a few blitzes and stunts etc on the line to force Getsy on quicker sshorter throws.
Personally, I'm hoping Deangelo has the type of day that ensures not only first day but first hour draft status! You fans deserve it, although Downtown Detroit will be a hard place to tailgate in with those Smokers the size of my Explorer.
The only correction I would make to the above is that Akron doesn't have 500 fans it's more like 260. the rest mistakenly show up to the Rubber Bowl because they saw the single line of traffic backed out to Rt.224 and thought Tallmadge was playing Copley.

Akron's bandwagon has begun to fill and they might have a decent contingent at the MCB.

Sadly, you could make the same statement about BG fans.quote:

Just think if all those same people showed the same school spirit for a home game.

The zips turned a corner this season and turned it better and faster than expected. I will say that i dont know what to expect in this game. I dont know how the zips will respond the "bowl excitment factors" i dont know.
the can play with you, if they show up like they have several times.
My guess is that if the tigers can establish a early run game, and get a head that the zips will get frustrated and fold. other wise they will be energized by a close game, and just hang a round...
