I think trying to get transfers is always a good idea for a new coach. If it was Durkin we might be able to nab a few of these guys

Regardless I hope we are able to get some former SEC recruits here if we get the Tenn guy or Durkin or Stud.

Good to hear. The coaching sites have been dark and Thamel is credible after his scoops on Clawson.
The I-AA guys seem more and more like people to bring in when you need a complete reclamation project and a CEO-type to manage the job. That's not us. Warriner has West Point connections (when they were better than they are now) which are relevant given Kington's history.
Given these four I'd go with Durkin and get a hell of a recruiter who loves BG and has done nothing but win as an assistant at great programs.

If we went OSU I wouldnt want Fickell or this opther guy but if Combs could get that mentality that he showed in the above video to BG I would love it.

Everyone thought he was the guy for Miami. It's still surprising they didn't hire him. His position group didn't play well but that didn't stop them from hiring the OC from Notre Dame and his 75th ranked scoring offense.Globetrotter wrote:If we went OSU I wouldnt want Fickell or this opther guy but if Combs could get that mentality that he showed in the above video to BG I would love it.
Re: Official Coaching Search Rumor Page
Coombs would be an ABSOLUTE disaster. He's a terribly position coach and acts like an excited 13 yr old on the sideline. There's a reason he didn't get the Miami job. He was extremely successful at Colerain, but he can stay in Columbus and chest bump all of the DBs that refuse to tackle he wants . . .
1. DURKIN
2. Ambrose
3. Babers
4. Re-post the job
5. Warriner

In my mind Durkin is such agreat looking candidate that anyone...outside of Stud..will seem like a letdown. Until we trundle up to Toledo and hand them their asses....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I'm betting Friday DJ Durkin is introduced as the new head coach

better up your Donations:
D.J. Durkin's promotion from linebackers coach/special teams coordinator to defensive coordinator at Florida comes with a $150,000 a year raise.
Durkin's new contract, which runs through the 2014 season, will pay him an annual salary of $490,000. He was making $340,000 a year in his former role.

We just got a buy out. That money can go directly into the new coaches salary.Falcon Commander wrote:better up your Donations:

Re: Official Coaching Search Rumor Page
Clawson was making in the $390-400k I saw online. MACCG $$$, buyout $$$ and additional bowl revenue . . . Chuck Martin got $450k reportedly from Miami and typically the MAC schools attempt to stay close salary wise. BG has one of the higher assistant coaches pools at $826k but it would be nice to see that expanded to $1M+ . . . The head coaching $$ is there to be competitive, the assistant coaching pool is what will continue to attract and RETAIN top level assistants
