I believe that Syracuse took this seriously. One of the reasons given for Dino's recent long-term extension was to prevent him from moving up to a larger power-5 program. . .

I don't have any evidence so this is pure speculation, but I can't help but feel that Urban and the university had an agreement for him to coach the remainder of the season after his suspension and then they would part ways. Way too many coincidences to believe Urban is retiring on his own volition.

He played Syracuse and their inexperienced AD like a fiddle. He wasn't going anywhere and isn't going anywhere. He was never a serious candidate at Ohio State and got lapped for the Maryland job by a guy with a 3-31 record as a head coach. He's 57, only beats bad/average teams and just finished 13th out of 14 in the ACC in recruiting.

This was like the BG/Louis Orr extension when Kingston extended a guy nobody else was looking to hire just because he exceeded low expectations for a year.

He also has Syracuse in the Top 20 right now.

The next couple of years will be interesting. Can he sustain this?

Mark Richt is retiring from Miami. I am not sure how attractive that job will be. It has been over a decade since Miami has been a stable top job.

Feel bad for Temple early signees. Don’t believe Diaz hired coaches yet.
