The WRs coach at Washington makes 800k
Re: Possible coaching candidates 2023
Sean Lewis made $530,000 as HC at Kent. He's making $900,000 a year at Colorado, getting national tv exposure every week. They averaged 15.4 points a game for last year and are at 34.2 so far this year. He made a smart move going this route instead of struggling to make the jump from Kent. With his offensive background in a high profile school having success putting up points and prior head coaching experience at the D-1 level, he's going to be very attractive to P5 schools looking for coaches in the next year or 2. Kind of off topic, but when the non-head coach salaries were mentioned, it got me wondering what he was making.

Re: Possible coaching candidates 2023
This is why going the FCS route makes the most sense. Hire a guy who has both experience in the role and experience managing a program with limited resources, plus the salary BG can offer will be reasonable. I trust if/when it happens for football, DVDM will look then since he pretty much followed that model for the men's basketball team.Beaker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:01 am Sean Lewis made $530,000 as HC at Kent. Re: Possible coaching candidates 2023
All good points. I assumed that OC's at schools like OSU and Michigan were out of our market. But Kansas? The WRs coach at Washington?
It's truly an entirely different level.

Re: Possible coaching candidates 2023
Washington has a pretty good football history. They made the playoff a couple years ago I think. Kansas is a top 5 basketball program generating money for decades. Plus all these flagship state universities have donors galore. But you’re right, a different level. It’s amazing we can beat Purdue, Maryland, Minnesota, Gt of the world more than occasionally given the discrepancies in budgets. We can’t ever beat top brand teams but our record vs the traditional power teams is probably pretty good since 2001.

Re: Possible coaching candidates 2023
This is why there's been chatter about a relegation system being the future of college football. The major players can push down the 10% or so of those P5 programs who seemingly lose to G5 schools on a semi-frequent basis.kdog27 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:01 am Washington has a pretty good football history. Can we count pre 2000 Cincy as a P5?
