He does a great job. Love him on basketball broadcasts, he won't hesitate one bit to tell it like he sees it.Globetrotter wrote:Todd Walker is the best thing going on in BG athletics.jpfalcon09 wrote:https://bgsufalcons.com/sports/2018/9/1 ... ycast.aspx

It is rather obvious we are no longer married to the hurry up offense. I am good with that. I came to a realization after watching our program and other hurry up programs that you need the following for a hurry up to work ...
- a good QB who can read quickly
- receivers on both sides who can win one-on-ones consistently
- inside receivers who can find their way open
- a reliable back
- a fit and deep offensive line
- a coaching staff that understands and is fully committed to the hurry up
- a defense that is good enough to handle being put on the field with little breather time
We had most of those in 2014 and all of those in 2015. Since? Some of them, sporadically and inconsistently.
Point is, that is too many things you need to expect success year in and year out. Instead, we are going to a similar offensive philosophy to what we had in the years prior. Committed only to a mindset, not a singular offensive system. Have multiple looks and tempos as needed for the situation. Have the ability to physically dominate when needed.
I'm good with this change. The hurry up was fun when it worked. It won't always work.

Boom. I REALLY like this move and hope Carl, along with Terry, help groom Loeffler in to the head coaching role.Dayons_Den wrote:I like the hire.
Hopefully Pelini's feelings aren't hurt, I'd be FOR offering him Associate HC / DC.

Yup, and how great their offense was. The high flying 50 point a game offense that was a three and out machine and wasn't built to function in the cold.MarkL wrote:Texas Tech fans all told us about how amazing Jinks was and how much they would miss him.
I bought into it just like everyone else and forgot three things:
1) An offense is only as good as the players running it
2) After players, an offense is only as good as the people coaching it
3) An offense must function in concert with the defense and special teams.
I like this staff and believe in their philosophy to win. It's very similar to Clawson. Babers and Jinks wanted to score 50 to win and didn't care if they gave up 45 in the process. Babers made it work, Jinks couldn't. There are many different ways to win football games.
I'll take an offense that scores in the mid-30's (as BC did this year) and can function effectively in in varying weather conditions complimented by a competent defense. That's a formula that can work here. The Reddit crew that can't grasp that probably can't explain what a three technique does on defense. Listening too closely to social media will lead you down a dangerous rabbit hole.
