Agreed. It's like a wrestling gimmick at this point. Hard not to hate it.
Royal Rumble is next month, but Guestlemania season is here.

Speaking of gimmicks. BGSU athletics dropped 500K on severance last year. That’s him and his extensions for the fired basketball coach who rostered Elsasser. That’s after 13.5 million were collected in student fees. Bob Moosbrugger (BGSU Baseball but quit) was a very expensive gimmick.

I’d say they could come up with the money to give the starting running back more than Moosbrugger’s kid gets.

I couoldn;t love this more.

It has a Trump vibe at this point too. Trump always throws in some sort of name before the person he is going to bash.

gspointer wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2023 8:47 am I hate what greed has done to this sport .
The players should continue to be exploited by the universities and NCAA, who make billions collectively off their talents, right?
My thoughts exactly. If the money is in the sport (and it's always going to be), I prefer the players get their piece of the pie. It sucks for the BGs of the world because we don't even have a burnt edge crust to divvy up, let alone an entire pie, but that's life.

And tying college kids to the initial place they chose at 17 also seems foolish to me.

While the player movement portion is new, the haves and have nots of college football is not new. Sure, we're on lesser footing now than we were 20 yrs ago, but is it that greatly different than it was 50 yrs ago? Hell 50 yrs ago there were no roster limits at all.

An while I'm the first to say I think the MAC TV deal is a fool's game, we have benefitted as fans from this money in the sport. When I was in school we had to truck in lights to play night games. It wasn't that long ago that following a road game was the coin flip of whether you were within broadcast distance of an FM station...now I can watch the games on my cell phone while I"m in line at Cedar Point.

Wish I got a free education and was exploited
Me too. But alas I don't have a talent that millions of people want to watch enough to generate billions of dollars in cash flow.

Ohio State football recognized $109 Million in revenue last year. Realistically that number is WAY low because it doesn't account for OSU product sales that 90% of people only care about football. If you honestly believe a free state education is worthy compensation for those athletes then I don't know what to say, we are on completely different levels of what is fair and equitable.

That's the first place you go to get the students' share.

Anthony Hawkins is back next year on the defensive line.

Howell/Hawkins/Brown/Hardamon. One of the best defensive lines in the country, honestly.

Nate Pabst is back

Oline is going to surprise people next year. Should be 4 starters back and they'll have all offseason to improve

Anyone know around how many roster spots were going to have open for the portal? Not losing a lot guys to the portal or graduation and we're bringing around 22 guys in the recruiting class

Our roster next year is well over 100 but it's unknown how many of those guys are walk ons.

Really appreciate you keeping these together! 2024 defense should be fantastic. 17 seniors still on the two deep defense for next season but that's mostly the last year with covid waiver players. I assume other teams will be in a similar boat
