Re: @UCLA (9/3)
Saw some good things today. Our D will be pretty solid in the MAC. RB by committee will work but our O line still needs a lot of work. QB? I say go with Orth and see what he can do but that won't happen. UCLA is very good and a solid team.

A great start with the turnovers and the STs. One great offensive drive and a other good one.
Then the heat hit and everything went to crap. QB accuracy still a problem. Defense has a lot of talent and hopefully will be better against non power talent.

Frankly, if you would have told me before the game the score would be 45-17, I would have been okay with it. Unfortunately, I watched the first 20 minutes and got my hopes up.
Overall, I just hope none of the injuries are significant and that they can rehydrate and recover for next game. I really like the defense, but they were absolutely gassed by the second half of the second quarter. Even so, I think they held their own.
Offense was horrible. McDonald was horrible, WRs were horrible, center play was horrible. TEs are a strength, and overall I think the offensive line seemed improved. UCLA does have a solid, athletic defense, so it's hard to gauge what BG will be like against similar competition, but If they don't put up 45 against EKU next week, I'll officially be worried.

Well said, Billy. EKU will be no pushover. They hung w/ EMU all game and I think only lost by 6 or?BillyLP wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:15 pm Frankly, if you would have told me before the game the score would be 45-17, I would have been okay with it. Only scored 27 vs. Murray State last year. Same cast of characters so don't get your hopes up. EKU can be a loss and if it is the season will be off the rails two weeks in, and the countdown to getting a new coach will be on.BillyLP wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:15 pm Frankly, if you would have told me before the game the score would be 45-17, I would have been okay with it. Let the record show that I picked 45-17 back on Monday this week. Lolmbenecke wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 8:11 am Finally game week!
I agree with the sentiment above that it probably won't be close, but I expect that every time we play P5 schools. Until proven otherwise that we can CONSISTENTLY hang, that's just kinda reality/my expectation for us.
I'm also thinking something along the lines of 45-17 or something like that. It's just too much to handle in Week 1, and I don't see us scoring much.
If we're competitive in the 2nd half, that could mean big things for this year. Looking forward to watching this one. I hope to see a disciplined football team with some fight in them.
I believe it's a 2:30pm (EST) kickoff on the PAC 12 Network, for those planning to watch.
I think we're gonna be alright. We were competitive for a half and then ran out of gas against a much more talented and deeper P5 squad. I don't think anyone should be surprised by anything today. I think we're being somewhat prisoners of the moment, and that has extra emphasis because we started hot and led 17-7.
We obviously need to get a lot better, and next week could be a bit of a challenge, but I'm confident this team can still accomplish its goals this season. I believe this year will be different, and I'm excited to be at the Doyt next week.

I tend to be with critical thinker, if you told me we lost 45-17 yesterday I’d probably be optimistic. Problem is UCLA s**t the bed for a quarter and a half. And when they were done shitting the bed we never scored again.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:49 pmLet the record show that I picked 45-17 back on Monday this week. More good news ….. our starting Center transfer-in is ineligible for the season because his transfer paperwork was F-D up……
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

I would like my cookie for also picking the score correctly. Hard to determine a lot from this game as someone that was at the 2013 Indiana game. One thing I can say is Matt mcdonald still isn't it and I like our defensive potential.
It was absolutely BRUTAL there today and that attendance number was generous

Hottest game ever in rose bowl …112. I’m laying in my hotel room… they gave like 9 IV’s at halftime. Someone said hottest game ever ??

So, it’s not good when you spend the entire summer without a Compliance Director? Maybe Kit & Bob should have had him focused more on eligibility and less on trying to kill NIL announcements with local media.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 7:31 pm More good news ….. our starting Center transfer-in is ineligible for the season because his transfer paperwork was F-D up……

Re: @UCLA (9/3)
True, this. We could hear easily coaches hollering at players from the 25th row.
As for Jaraki Robinson: Huge loss. In the postgame, Loeffler expressed hope the NCAA would “do the right thing” and that Robinson had put a ton of work in during the off-season, both in football and in life. But maybe he was trying to sell there. It didn’t sound final in the postgame, but Rogue obviously has excellent sources.

I heard about Robinson from parents at the tailgate…. , so it is possible some appeal could work?? Also, Osborn has a chance to make it back late season, clean break in his shoulder.

Or perhaps Memphis made a mistake. We don't know any facts.guest44 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 8:02 pmSo, it’s not good when you spend the entire summer without a Compliance Director? If Robinson can't play all bets are off. Zimmerly is a great story but he's not an FBS caliber center. Really disappointing all around.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 8:14 pm I heard about Robinson from parents at the tailgate…. , so it is possible some appeal could work??
