"Slappy" is kind of a generic term for "homer" or a person who completely lacks objectivity and a sense of humor about a given topic....in this case the University of Toledo.

The problem is not being a golfer, many of us here are golfers.
The problem is that is a reference to a former poster here who was not exactly well loved
