Anthony Turner’s court date?
For all you wanting to know about the court date, how in the world do you think this is going to change his football punishment?

I don't think I suggested that no one can discuss Turner's situation vis a vie the courts. (I get really annoyed by the "We're Americans, we have rights" bit) I'm suggesting that we should just let the matter rest.FliccGirl wrote:Actually-- not to be snarky-- but being US residents (or whatever, you know what I mean) gives us the right to investigate anything about his life that's public knowledge. Being football fans & BG students/alumni just gives us a reason to be interested.Flipper wrote:So, being a football fan and a BG student or alumnus gives us a right to continually poke around in this kid's life? I don't think that's a tenable positon.
That's not to say it's necessarily advisable.
Just throwing it out there.
Let the legal system do it's thing, the the team, coaches and University discipline and teach and most importantly, let's give the kid a chance to deal with the situation without a bunch of rubberneckers wondering when he hat to go to court.

I don't get this whole argument. Really, I don't. This board is all about BGSU, and when something newsworthy actually happens, there are a few watchdogs who don't want anyone to talk about it. What gives?
Either way, I think that the watchdogs are fine to do away with "gossip." But when it comes down to court news and items of public record, heck, why ISN'T it something to discuss?

Wow -- I actually agree with Botox. I need to lay down.
Roll Along!
Put yourself in Turner's shoes. Would you like it if people on an internet message board were talking about you getting caught with pot? There may be a handful of us who have actually met Turner, let alone are friends with him who might know the full story so I think that everyone just needs to chill out. This is A-Z-Z, not Big Brother.

No I would not like it. But then my advice would be that if you don't want to be talked about negatively on a message board, then don't get caught doing something illegal in the first place. Better yet, don't do the illegal activity. Discussing the ramifications of a legal offense is as much fair game as discussing any positive things players at might do or be rewarded.BGDrew wrote:Put yourself in Turner's shoes. What's discussing this any further going to accomplish. His court dates in May.

Glad to see you are actually getting smarter J4H!Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Ineedbotox wrote:I don't get this whole argument. Really, I don't. This board is all about BGSU, and when something newsworthy actually happens, there are a few watchdogs who don't want anyone to talk about it. What gives?

But for those of you who think we shouldn't be "allowed" to talk about this, seriously, chill. The thing is, if this were to happen to 99% of the students at BG, no one would even care about it. The REASON that it is at all interesting, is that it happened to the heir apparent QB.
That being said, believe it or not, as many stupid things as I did when I was in college, even I never got arrested. Shocking, I know!
No one said you couldn't discuss it, but what in the world does it accomplish?
