Well, the new fiscal year starts July 1.

You need to great some affinity marketing opportunities to bring significant numbers of new fans out.
Toledo Day last November at the Doyt was quite successful.........

My brother sent me this picture of a billboard in Cleveland. This was near the Rock n Roll hall of fame. I posted this before but it appears to fit well in this thread. This was a scrolling billboard so more info about the game would come up such as date and time and ticket info.

For everyones information, a number of university departments (i.e. alumni, athletics, admissions) are planning events in the Cleveland area the weekend of the game to attract alumni not just in Cleveland, but from all over. For instance, I just got an e-mail from the Columbus Chapter of the AA about discounted tickets. Also, several chapters are looking at bus trips. There will also be watch parties scheduled for those that can't make it. Admissions is looking at having an event to attract students of alumni that are looking to BG. And of course, Athletics has already had one event at CB Stadium and will probably have more.

To sum it up, a lot more than the visible marketing is going in to promoting the BG-Wisc game. A lot of it right now is grass roots oriented. Getting people, whether it be on this site, or around BG, Toledo, Cleveland, and Columbus to talk it up. Heavily advertising something that is five months away now, is not the smartest thing to do. Simple rule of marketing. After all, hockey is just wrapping up, baseball has just started, graduation season starts in three weeks, and most people haven't even started planning their summer vacations. So to think about something that is five months aways is a stretch for most people. Heck, even thinking about what is for dinner is a stretch for most people.

But two things are for sure, a lot of people will be at the game and a lot of Wisconsin fans will be there. We just need to make sure that BG fans are the majority. If not, well then the image that we are trying to portray in the national media and to the bowls will be quite interesting...

In my view, these grassroots, direct efforts to reach out to our natural fans are $$ better spent than advertising.

It was? I seem to recall UT fans filled one section of the Doyt. There were more BG people at the Glass Bowl in 2004 than UT people at the Doyt last year...even though both outcomes sucked BiG time. :x
