Most of my thoughts have been pretty much mentioned on here.

~ I thought the QBs were awful. Turner was better than Barnes, but neither looked good. If Barnes has to play QB we are SUNK. He's got great athleticism so he's useful elsewhere, because he is not a QB

~ Wasn't mentioned much here, but I REALLY liked the play of the RBs. Both Macon & Thomas were making some nice cuts and getting some good yardage

~ The DL looked pretty good in pass rushing, especially. The had quite a few sacks on the day and there may have been a couple more where the DL guy had a clear shot, but let up because they weren't allowed to hit the QBs.

~ Dozier looked intense...he'd be a beast at safety, disappointing we have to move him up to LB where he'll be woefully undersized against a lot of the teams we play. LBs have to shed blocks from OL, TE, and FBs, and all of those guys will have 40+ pounds on him...hopefully his quickness can make up for it, but that's a small LB.

~ Our WR are hurting. Partridge looked damn good and that was about the extent of it. Our other WRs couldn't get separation, and couldn't adjust to the poorly thrown balls. Our passing game was just total crap for most of the day, IMO. I'm hoping some of those freshmen are ready to step in and play WR right away because we don't have 4 WRs that deserve to be on the field right now, and certainly don't have the types that will get open against OSU/Wisky

~ The OL gave some good lanes to the RBs, but the QBs were getting pressured a lot, as I mentioned before. Hopefully it was our DL dominating, but it's hard to tell which way in those types of matchups.

~ In the end I like the way the defense is developing. There is some legit talent there, and I think you'll see some true freshmen like Fells & Young step right in and play a lot of snaps this year. They're still young, so I'm not sure they're gonna be lights out, but I do think they'll be better than years past.

~ The offense is going to NEED to become a run first offense. Personally, I have no problem with that, in fact I prefer it. The thing I worry about, however, is that in the past we've never had to worry about not being able to run, it was the willingness to run that we struggled with. Oftentimes we'd throw even though we could easily run it down their throats. The staff is going to need to realize that we are not that passing team any longer and we need to control the clock on the ground...that should help the defense as well.

~ In total for the team, I think we can compete in the MAC, but I didn't see a team that can really hope to compete with OSU. Wisconsin might be closer, but we need some serious work to have a shot in that one as well. I think the East is gonna be real weak this year, so we've got a shot, but I still think anything more than 7 wins is probably a pretty successful year with this group. We are just very young, and much less talented in the areas where we're used to dominating (QB & WR).

I think that's realistic. I think we're a year away.

Oh yeah, I think I even said it. 2006 might be a feeler year for us, we should start really well because of the godawful teams we play early on, but the later games will be very tough. Come 2007, we're gonna be GOOD. That, at least on paper, should be the year we really go for it. Of course, there were some people talking about possibly going undefeated last year and we went 6-5.

FF90, I think you alluded to this before, but I've never heard the story. Dozier was the first commitment to Toledo a couple of years ago and then I never heard anything more. On signing day, he showed up on BG's list and I never heard what happened. Do you know how he ended up at BG...was it just that he decommited from UT?
UT is listed in the 2004 edition of The Unofficial, Unbiased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges by Trent Anderson and Seppy Basili as one of the U.S. schools with the “Most Beautiful Urban Campus.”

Did anybody notice if Deaudre Perry was on the defensive sidelines for the game? His name isn't in the box score and I didn't see him out there.

I can't say anything that has not already been said. The defense played really hard and would have won the game if not for the ridiculous scoring system. The RB's are good. The QB's and WR's have a long way to go. I am looking forward to the season with cautious optimism.

Dozier found out that the rumors of a simultaneous move by UT to the ACC, SEC, Big 10 and Arena Football League were concocted by Tom Amstutz during a 48 hour chocolate chip cookie dough bender in the Kroger at Secor and Monroe.

He wisely chose to become a Falcon shortly thereafter.

Warthog wrote: Partridge was WIDE open down the middle for like a 60 yard TD reception, but I am betting it was a blown coverage as there was no one within 15 yards of him. Luckly, Turner delivered one of his few decent throws of the day.
Actually it wasn't blown coverage. I talked with Corey after the game. He said the defense lined up in cover two on the outside. They audibled into the play because he was one on one with a linebacker. He just out ran the linebacker up the middle. And that is why he was so far open. No safety help.

Great game and weather, just got to keep Corey healthy this year. Things will get better with the QBs and WRs. Summer camp will provide alot of reps to get them insync.

Yeah, magner has a bum ankle, i saw him at the commons a few days ago and he was on crutches, no worries though, its still 4 months away before we really need to worry about nything with this team. i think we are going to be fine.

Boy, do I wish we could have been there. Sounds like things went about as expected.

hammb, this quote got me thinking ...

I'm wondering if we might see a lot of the "ponies" set this year.

If our RBs are strong, and it sounds like they are, I can see Macon, Thomas, Winovich (anyone else?) rotating through as the two backs. Sean O would be the TE and then we'd only have two WRs out there ... Corey and Whoever Steps Up In Camp (WSUIC).

Glad to hear the defense tackled well. That was its biggest weakness last year.

My bad, O & B. Guess sitting at the top of the East side didn't give me the best view for that. I talked to Parks after the game and seemed to regain his marbles.
Thanks for pointing that out.

What I remember is he decommited from UT at the last possible moment and signed with BG. I don't know why but I remember reading that in the Akron Beacon Journal.

I agree. Our O needs work....lots of it. But I'm confident it will be ready for the season. The D will be steady...I liked what I saw on that side of the ball.
It is very hard to gauge things with the spring game. All I know is I was jacked just to be back at the Doyt tailgating and watching FALCON FOOTBALL>
