Cool. That must have been where my confusion came from, thanks.BGSUFootballFan wrote:Yeah Perry will definitely be playing this year. The only reason he didnt play in the spring game was because he was hurt. Im guessing thats why some of you are confused? But look for him to start in the defensive backfield for us this year!!!!

Hey no problem! I think he has the potential to become like a Keon Newson for us. I have to admit our defensive backfield might be my least worry right now behind our RB's and OL.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

ive reported this before, but dre quit the team. my buddy told me that who is on the team cuz i asked him why he didn't play in the spring game. maybe he begged and pleaded to the coaches to play again when he realized how much he was throwing away. i do know that when he lived on my floor 2 years ago, he got a 0.0 gpa. so maybe he got his act together.

"There has been some shifting on the depth chart in the offensive line and is Deaudre Perry back?"
GB: "Deaudre is back from a medical condition that he had towards the end of last season. We continue to monitor him and make sure that he is ok and he will be participating in spring drills."

Corey as 3rd team all Mac, I'll take that. That will mean he is healthy all season. Sounds good.BGSU33 wrote:'Freak....no doubt, Phil Steele's magazine is awesome! But let me fill you in on this, a little "birdie" informed me how the MAC will pan out in Phil Steele's magazine for 2006. The magazine will hit newsstands on June 13th and here's the breakdown of the MAC (I can't wait to hear the feedback on this one):Falconfreak90 wrote:The only issue I get anymore is Phil Steele's. That usually hits the stands in mid June.
MAC East
1-t. Kent State
1-t. Ohio
3-t. Akron
3-t. Bowling Green
5. Miami
6. Buffalo
MAC West
1. Northern Illinois
2. Toledo
3. Central Michigan
4. Western Michigan
5. Ball State
6. Eastern Michigan
All-MAC for BG:
Kory Lichtensteiger - 1st Team
Derrick Markray - 2nd Team
Devon Parks - 2nd Team
Antonio Smith - 2nd Team
Corey Partridge - 3rd Team
Brad Williams - 3rd Team
Deaudre Perry - 3rd Team
Anthony Turner - 4th Team
Dan Macon - Honorable Mention

I have purchased Phil Steele's magazine for several years now and I am always amazed at how much information he crams into 500 or so pages. He is usually pretty good with predictions too, but the Kent State pick makes me scratch my head a little bit. I realize the MAC East is not going to set the world on fire this year, but Kent State?? I think that Akron has to be the clear favorite heading into the season.

Kent St is one of the worst football teams in the nation. No way no how they win the MAC East this year!

I think the difference between Akron last year and Kent this year is that Akron came into last year on a roll. They finished 6-2 in the MAC in 2004. Kent didn't win a game last year in the MAC. That 2004 Zip team was led by Charlie Frye, which obviously contributed to a number of those victories, but the Zips learned how to win in 2004 and they had confidence coming into 2005. I have no idea if Kent actually has any football talent on their roster this year, but I do know that they have not won in a while and their confidence can't be that high. I just don't see a completely dormant program gaining enough confidence to win the East this year. It takes time to build a conference championship caliber team.TG1996 wrote:See: Akron.BGSUFootballFan wrote:Kent St is one of the worst football teams in the nation. RE: Last year.
True. It is alot farther to go than what Akron did, but Akron also did it with a question mark coming in at QB. I guess I forgot that Kent was *that* bad last year, though they played us pretty tough. All I meant to imply is that they're only talking about winning the division, not the BCS.

I never said they'd win it, or that I'd even put money on them winning it. I'm just saying that things happen, and have happened in the past, even in our own backyard.1987alum wrote:TG: C'mon, Kent? Line up the bug buffet table.
Even with a winless '05, if they bring alot of experience back, you never know.

I was wondering how long it would take for the "how did they pick Kent State to win the East" portion of this thread to take off. I thought it would happen the minute after I made the post. Better late then never I guess.
Seriously though, like many of you, I also scratched my head with Kent State being picked to win the East. True, you could make the case for Kent State like with what Akron did last year, but I just can’t see that happening with Kent State this year. Ohio, yes, I could see them sneaking out of the East. I know many people don’t think they will either, but I could see Ohio losing most of their non-conference games then grinding out a path to the top of the MAC East. They have a good schedule in terms of who they play at home and on the road (particularly vs. the MAC East) to do so. I really think the East will come down to Akron and Ohio though. I hope like hell it’s not and that it’s BG, but we’ll see. Last year we were hands down the favorites to not only win the East, but win the MACC and we fell well short of both. Maybe this year, we can do a little sneaking around and come out on top. I don’t believe we are going to be the “hunted” team we’ve been the last couple years, so maybe we can do some “hunting” ourselves. In the West, I'm sticking with NIU and I think they'll win it all.

Fell well short?
C'mon doomsayers! As poor a showing as some of you thought last season was in reality we fell an overtime stop against Toledo short of winning the East, or a Western Michigan win in the final week from winning the East, or a Ball State win..........
We lost the East on a freakin' 4th third tiebreaker! And if we got into the MACC I would venture anything would have been possible...because by then Omar would have been uber-healthy and could have given NIU as much game as Akron did....and then we could have beat Memphis.... again!
