I am just not sold that he is good enough to be a first round pick. I hope that I am wrong as I love to see former MAC players make it in the NFL. He does have a huge lack of talent at Akron but to me it seems like that it should be made up somewhat by his own talent. He should make the players around him a lot better and especially against MAC competition. I have never seen him actually play in person so I am by no means a good judge of how good he is. I have only seen in limited amounts on television and analyzing his stats. I hope you're right Hammb, but if you are right and he is that good, Akron is one awful team

I haven't seen him play this year, but have seen him a few times in his career. Unless he has taken a drastic step backwards he is surrounded by a TERRIBLE team. I am somewhat in agreement with you that if he were first round level talent then he should be elvating the game of his peers. I'm not 100% convinced he is a first rounder, but he is definitely a first day pick in my book. I know some that have seen him no a more consistent basis are convinced he's a late 1st/early 2nd type guy.

His stats this year are almost irrelevant. The coaching change likely hurt him more than any amount of his targets leaving. They are no longer in a passing scheme offense, adn this is killing him. They are ill equipped for a running game, and from the accounts I've heard he's always passing when everyone in the stadium knows he's passing, and on top of that he's throwing to the inexperienced WRs. That's not a good combination at all. On top of that they have no defense whatsoever, so they're always behind in games.

Yes, they're a terrible team, but I'm still betting that Charlie Frye is a pretty darn good QB. 1st rounder? Not sure, but I didn't think JP Losman was 1st round material last year either.

With all the talk of Frye and the draft, I just have to say that after every week watching Roethlisberger do well for the Steelers, I get more and more @#$%##%^&*%#$ mad about the Browns passing him up. :rant: :rant: :duh:

I don't think anything could save the Browns except getting a real O-Line. ::Grin::

The schematic things a TE can do for your offense are hard to fathom. Its a position that is traditionally underutilized and overlooked, but when used properly you can design an offense around a TE. For starters did you notice in the first 2 games (some long completions against Baltimore & some long missed open WRs against Dallas) how much the deep ball was open when Winslow was in there?

The en vogue nowadays is the cover2. Nothing beats the Cover 2 like a TE down the seam

What the Browns really need is to improve their OL & the whole offensive group's ability to pick up a blitz. The OL stinks, but when other teams blitz they aren't seeing it. The RBs aren't picking up the blitzer, the QB isn't reading it in time, and the WRs aren't breaking their routes to help the QB. Beating the blitz is easy for a team that is in sync, but impossible for one that is not. It is clear that our offense is NOT in sync.

I guess part of my frustation is the fact that Winlsow is out for the year. So to see Big Ben do well and the Browns top two draft picks are hurt and will not play again this year, that just stinks.

I agree 100% that the Browns offense will continue to stink until they address the o-line.
