I get sick of people in Columbus wearing Michigan and Notre Dame stuff, but I am not organizing any bon fires. I know a number of people that are fans of both OSU and Notre Dame (but rarely UM). I also know a number of people that are fans of both BG and OSU (I for one). I grew up in C-bus, have a degree from BG and OSU, my folks have degrees from both. I will root for both schools and I will continue to purchase clothing that bares the logos of BG and OSU. Just like some of you will buy clothing of BG and some other school.
I will also root for BG everytime they play OSU in any sport. Of course, when OSU is chasing a National Title, just like in '03, it is tough to root against OSU. So I at least hope for a good game. Which at times we had today.
This isn't a pathetic thread...
I think it is good for BGSU to encourage OUR students to root for OUR school first. I also think that we need a little more BG pride from the students.
Hell, go to Miami and they brainwash you with how great Miami is.
Same with Ohio State, only with athletics.
We could do with a little positive brainwashing, imho.
My point has nothing to do with whether students should be wearing BG stuff over that of other schools, it has to do with rooting for those other schools as well as BG.
I think it is perfectly alright for someone to root for more than one team. I consider myself a fan of sports and any chance I have to experience an event in another market with no feelings towards one team or another, I enjoy it. I have been to several Yankees games over the last few years. I like attending games in Yankee Stadium, but I am not in anyway a diehard, or even casual fan. I am a Reds fan, first, baseball fan second. I have attended PAC Ten sporting events with no feeling for the outcome, but have enjoyed the time. On occasion I have picked up shirts or hats of the teams that I have seen in action. That doesn't make me a traitor, does it?
This is probably not novel but I had not heard it before. At the UT game all UT merchandise was 25% off to fans wearing gear from another school. Catch was you had to leave your stuff and change into the UT gear on the spot.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me.
Of course, the question that follows is, what do we do with all the leftover junk that people turned in?

I can't say I don't understand the sentiment. It annoys the piss out of me to see the occasional person wearing ND or scUM stuff around Columbus (I'm not the kind of ass who looks or says anything dirty towards them). If it makes you feel any better I don't really like the bandwagon fans of OSU either. I'm not saying that anybody who goes to BGSU and pulls for OSU is bandwagon BUT a lot of them are. What really annoys me about these fans is that most of the bullshit/fires started around Columbus after big games are by visiting fans/non-students and yet we OSU students catch most of the blame for it. I ended up knocking the s**t out of some Miami(oh) (<~~just to annoy the Redhawks) for trying to light a trash fire in front of my apartment after the Texas game. This isn't to say that there aren't some OSU jackoffs that do this stuff as well but only something like 11 of the 45 people arrested after the 2002 riots went to OSU, the rest were MAC imports and locals with no connection to the school. We may have different reasons for disliking them but believe me I would much rather they get their self-esteem fix somewhere else.

I've read several of your posts, and I resent the hell out of you. You're so cool you make me seriously want to reconsider my opinion of your school.
