I'm not in disagreement that CB has earned the starting job, but didn't ANY of you guys see which RB pulled off the longest play of the day for BG? It's not like Macon CAN'T play....but he needs to earn back some of his earlier playing time....as to running "up the gut", what do you think that play was?hammb wrote:I was very disappointed with Macon in the first game. I kept saying that if Freddie can find holes in the middle they are probably there for Macon as well. I was willing to give him more time though and the Buffalo game was just more of the same. I didn't see the FIU game, but again in the KSU game we saw more of it. Macon may be fast, but he just doesn't look like a natural RB.BGSUFootballFan wrote: I agree with the part about Macon. After the 1st week I was really ripping him for not standing out and having a good game. I took a beating on this board for that, and I think I've still yet to be proven wrong. A lot of people said he was our best player O or D in the offseason, and GB has always touted him as our fastest player. I've yet to see a flash of either...
RB is one of those things that you're usually born with, as well, so I really don't expect him to magically become that great back we thought he could be. Pope, Bullock, and even Thomas last year, are all good examples. If a guy has the instincts to play RB they usually show it pretty quickly.
At this point I think Bullock is the better option as an everydown RB. From what little I saw Saturday I did love to see Barnes out there at WR quite a bit too
Chris Bullock...

You could say that it was very late in the fourth quarter when both teams were playing its third string guys. Bullock was making plays against starters. The way I see it, Macon had his chance to start and didn't show much. Chris has been given an opportunity to start and has emerged as the No. 1 guy. It was Macon's position to lose and he lost it.
Didn't see the play Saturday, so I cannot comment on that.Class of 61 wrote: I'm not in disagreement that CB has earned the starting job, but didn't ANY of you guys see which RB pulled off the longest play of the day for BG? However, I did watch all of the Wisconsin & Buffalo games. I saw nearly all of the KSU game.
In those games I didn't see one play by Macon that made me think he had instincts to play RB. Every handoff he took he was sprinting towards the sidelines and eventually getting strung out and either tackled or going out of bounds for a couple yards. Against Buffalo he was able to turn it up field a couple of times when he got outside and built some nice yardage, but it still wasn't great running.
Bullock has hit the hole hard and is going north south the entire time, that I like.
If Macon's big run was a good play by seeing a hole and hitting it, then great, you can never have too many players and I'd like to see him develop. However, I didn't see that play and in the games I've seen Macon has not looked like the answer at RB...Bullock has looked much better.

yes Macon did have the longest run of the game for us, but all of his up side is that he is fast. But I think he has lost a step or two, didn't he get hurt a few weeks ago. I'm not so sure that he has those after burners that he did in the summer. Look at that long run he had, how did it end? he was drug down from behind.
