I clicked and read that description but it seems to me in the BGSU trivia or old programs that it was Ivan Lake who saw the color combination on an inter-urban ride from Toledo. . . . Wonder where Winslow fits into the story. . . I also wish they would take more credit/point out the connection with the Browns.

medlar, thanks for the advice and info. I really enjoy visiting Ohio, watching the game, the band etc. It is a fine school and a beautiful place. Should be quite a battle with the tough Ohio defense versus BG's potent offense.

Why don't you straighten KitCat out on your board for me? His posts are ridiculous even for a partisan board. You and I both know BG has tremendous strengths in Education, Art, Music, specific science sequences leading to med school, specific business disciplines such as economics, supply chain mangement and the like, a well regarded College of Technology and a strong health care set with nursing and physical therapy- among other programs.

I get the feeling this guy actually thinks BG is inferior to Ohio. He's wrong- both are top schools in various ways with some great facilities (ask him to visit our Student Union) in general and in athletics. BG has leading edge nationally recognized residential programs in Learning Communities and Values Initiatives for newer students. We welcomed the largest and smartest (ACT/GPA) freshmen class in the university's history this fall.

We don't have the hills, but we have a lot to offer up here and we have simply flown by the University of Toledo by every measurement possible- and they know it. So, medlar, make sure your posters like KitCat know we Falcons respect Ohio University. This state is big enough for several good residential schools.

Let him know; I'm not one to sign up for other boards etc.

Go Falcons!

*twitch*

There is a long stream of bad blood between the OU and BG band programs. It stems back to some ugly incidents when the OU band visited BG.

Other than the band, I very much enjoy Athens and OU. The setting is one of the finest in the MAC. The have a very good jounalism school and other highly acclaimed programs as well. I respect OU for the most part.

I should state here that my brother went to OU for two years. I have some fond memories (mostly) of Sibs weekends down there with B-Ball; Club hockey games; and running after my wheelchair bound friend as he flew down a snowy Jeff Hill. I also saw an OU football game when my brother was a frosh (back in the mid 80's mind you).

I vacationed in Logan last month with my wife and daughter. I had intentions of driving through Athens, but the smell of incense and hemp drove us back.

The band issues...

Post by medlerBobcat »

The 110 has not made a lot of friends with a lot of bands...70s and 80s. The band has changed though. They still party and play vulgar jokes but they are a better representation of the university.

I don't want to get into the bobcatattack board stuff...most are great people and a lot of fun. There are a few over there but, I think...THINK...it's all in good fun.

We all must agree that college is what you make of it. I don't care where you go to school...everyone plays that "legitimate" school card. I chose Ohio because of Athens and Appalachia. I love the community and the bricks. My bro went to BG and he enjoyed it...although I think he got his wits when he came to Athens for his MFA. :P

If you're coming down to Athens this weekend, think good weather. We have an outside chance for rain but...I think it'll stay out of the way. I hope you get a chance to see the parade...the floats kind of stink but the bands are fun. Enjoy Athens and OU...we are very friendly people. The place will be packed but, if you have some time, stop by Casa Nueva and have a locally fresh Mexican and a good beer...or, Margarita!

You guys have been a lot of fun this weekend. I like to come over to the opponent boards to get an idea of what is going on in other places. You guys have been...by far...the most fun. The Marshall people are psychos!

I am going to OU with a good friend from here this weekend. We are staying at my best friend from high school's apartment. I'm excited. We are going to tailgate with her and her sorority sisters (they are music sorority people so it's not tooo bad...lol). Tailgating starts at 10am. I am planning on experiencing the Athens night life Friday night.

I have a feeling I'll be a tad bit tired Sunday

Yeah if you've ever been to the MACbbs board you'll know that KitCat thinks everything about any university other than Ohio is inferior. I've learned to just totally ignore him. Keep in mind he does not speak for all Ohio fans, he's just one of the over the top morons that I'm sure everybody has 1 or 2 of.

It could be worse. . . we could be Marshall with a whole town full of those people!

You can't call them "Ohio" fans - too confusing, gets them mixed up with Ohio State. They are Ohio of Ohio
