I agree, there is no way there was more than 10k there, can't BG figure this out too?Rightupinthere wrote:Official attendance for the Akron game: 15,728. I'll eat a bug if there were even 10,000 there.
I'm not sure there's too much to worry about. The students will show just as they have been showing and the rest of the tickets will be sold.
It's amazing how much misinformation and misunderstanding is contained in such a short thread.
home fans next game....how many?

If BG doesn't find a way to properly cook the books and ensure we're over 15k average attendance, I would like to see everyone in the Athletic Department dismissed. It is clear that every other school that has to worry about this has had no problems fixing things their way to get over that stupid number. If we refuse to do that on some morality high horse, or general incompetence, it would be inexcusable.Spart43 wrote:I agree, there is no way there was more than 10k there, can't BG figure this out too?Rightupinthere wrote:Official attendance for the Akron game: 15,728. Our paid attendance and actual attendance has been lower than the announced attendance for each game. I am sure Akron has the same issue. 15,725 is just the announced number.Spart43 wrote:I agree, there is no way there was more than 10k there, can't BG figure this out too?Rightupinthere wrote:Official attendance for the Akron game: 15,728. I agree Factman. Before the season started, there seemed to be a lot of confidence from the athletic department that the attendance issue would be a slam dunk. They should have know very early (after the Wisconsin game, or at the very least after Buffalo), that it would be in doubt. This should have been addressed before homecoming and used as a means to increase attendance at that game. Now we are stuck with an all or nothing one time shot to get over the hurdle.factman wrote:What bothers me, is that we waited until the LAST game to do something about the attendance problem. Why would you call out the students like that. The one section in the Doyt that has been full at the start of EVERY game for the last three years has been the student section. The students support the university well, they could do better of course but they do better than any of the three key groups. To quote my parents: "We try to sit on the home side to watch you play in the band, but your student section is always pretty well spoken for..."MACMAN wrote:Its realy a matter that will be decieded by the "ME" generation.
What some have named the most selfish, spoiled and over privlaged generation.
Are they, capabel of turning out, selflessly to support and infact protect Falcon football, its realy in thier hands. the hands of americas future. yea sure the University could posibly dip in to the budget and buy tickets or other wise fudge the numbers, but all that does is further prolong the agony.
Its a student challange, turn out, or we turn down.
The students most certainly are not the problem.
Yeah right girl!

As if Attendance is the only issue right now for Christopher...
1) Sebo falling down, repeatedly
2) New Basketball Arena
3) Gymnastics Hazing
4) Scheduling issues for Men's Football and Basketball
5) Fundraising
6) Now having to hire a new Sports Marketing Guru as BG lost their's halfway through the football season.
no Christopher has nothing else to worry about.

I guess my original post never made it...
If BG had 20% of their alumni buying season tickets this wouldn't be a problem, but you all complain when only 20% of the students show up... get over it...
Love for your Alma Mater is grown for four, five, six years of college, and you haven't been cultivating that relationship like other universities across the nation... I'm not throwing stones because Miami is hardly if at all better... but you can't cultivate a strong following if you don't have a love affair with your institution.

Sebo is falling down? I know we had the elevator shaft issue thanks to the constructionally-challenged construction crew, but did something else happen that I missed?
And the gymnastics hazing is done and dealt with, the basketball arena seems to be on a perpetual "report coming soon!" cycle, scheduling has been decent for FB and MBB (MAC sodomy aside)... I'd say attendance is far and away THE issue for our AD right now. Keep the others in mind, but for the next 9 days, he should be practically door to door in Wood County getting people out for that one. Or at least working on his fuzzy math.

Maybe they weighed everyone (band w/ instruments) in the stadium and then divided by 100.Falconfreak90 wrote:There was no more than 8K in the stands on a beautiful day for football.Spart43 wrote:I agree, there is no way there was more than 10k there, can't BG figure this out too?Rightupinthere wrote:Official attendance for the Akron game: 15,728. Ok- One More Time, the AD got here and immediately had to work on the Clash in Cleveland which was left in his lap among other things. Didn't want to start off by losing our AZZ on that one did we? And the people that I know in the Athletic Dept in NO way consider our attendance a slam dunk. And I have heard the AD say at events that he wants more home games on SAturdays day or nights- and that is what he will work toward.Warthog wrote:I agree Factman. I heard it the last time, in FLA, so I don't think they have waited until the last minute to think about attendace.
I am not the AD defender, but I have been to most all the games, and heard his speeches to alums and supporters and he has talked about getting to games and attendance at everyone of them. So I cut him a break this year.
And since our marketing director was busy looking for another job, not a good combination.
Soooo.... What exactly are all these promotions and give aways that are happening for the Miami game? I haven't heard anything specific about them, just that they are happening.
If they are giving away a car, I am interested in buying a raffle ticket for that one.
How many are considering the donation of $170 for 20 tickets to help the paid attendance number? I have been considering doing this to help out. I think it would get alot of support if you could buy only 10 instead of the required 20. That would keep the donation under $100 which would help many to decide to do this.
