It's going to be Urban -- no doubt

Post by Lord_Byron »

I think Urbie's got the job if he wants it and I'm sure Mrs. Urb wants to work on her tan.

This from Mandel's column on SI.com

"One connection to consider: Florida's new president, Dr. Bernie Machen, came from Utah, where he hired Meyer."

Spurrier spurned Florida once, and although it would be poplular with fans to re-hire him, he's really an egotistical d***-head that I'm sure the administration was happy to get rid of.

This comes from The Gator Message Board: www.gatorcountry.com

"I just got off the phone with someone close to Spurrier. I'm going to take a lot of heat for this and I'll probably never be allowed on the UF campus again after I post this. I've come to like many of you and this is my gift to many on this board. I'm going to spill the beans.

SPURRIER WANTS TO COME BACK BUT THERE IS A PROBLEM. The new president wants to bring in the guys from Utah. You people need to put a call in to the the presidents office and tell them you want Spurrier. It's going to take a great effort from everyone including the Bull Gators. It's in your hands. Don't take the pressure off. Good luck."

Would it be silly to even consider the fact that Brandon could consider joining Urban's staff at Florida as offensive coordinator? How much does a coordinator at a school like Florida get paid compared to what he gets as our head coach?

Just a couple of thoughts on old Urban. First, I wish that he would quit playing this game of "Well, I don't want to leave this place, I like the people, the kids, and the school. And there is also some unfinished business." And then get all testy when someone mentions a job that he is being talked about that you know he really wants. And second, I would rather see him in Florida than here in Texas, because I don't want to see his face every Saturday of the college football season. Although I would love to see him get his butt kicked like Mack Brown does every year by Oklahoma.

I've heard that when Urban was still at BG he talked to people at ND and they said they would never heir someone from BG no matter how many wins or what he did here to help the program, and that was one of the reasons he went to utah. I believe that he will be at ND that's where he wants to go and that's where he will end up someday!!

Two things. I believe there was a story in USA Today on Urban Meyer and his contract only let him out for UM, OSU and ND. But I could be wrong.

And the fear isn't that Coach Brandon goes to Flordia. Its that he goes to Utah.

Those are the "easy" outs in his contract. The ones that have a lower or, I believe, NO buyout clause. I'm certain there is still a buyout that any team trying to hire Urban away would have to pay.
