I was just about to post something about this until I saw your post! If you want to tailgate all day, start the day before and keep going through the night! I'd be up for it since I'm going to probably have to be out on the band fields at 7 am!

As usual, myself, bacn3, and the entourage will be at the stadium friday for this game. So an all night tailgate will be happening.

I had similar issues. My family is celebrating Thanksgiving that evening in Findlay. I was already being cast out to the curb because I told my wife that I was going to the football game instead. Now I can do both and all is well domestically. :supz:

I have Direct TV. Can I pay for just the BG games that are on FOX Sports Net or do I have to purchase the entire College Football package?

Looks like the Eastern, Western and Marshall games will now be available via the dish.

Any help is appreciated...
In Lexington, I have to order the Sports package, which is not the same thing as the "college football package (ESPN Gameplan)." It costs something like $6 or $7 per month. I don't think you can order this sports pack by the game but you can order for just one month if you want to watch the two BG games on FSN Ohio in November.

Here's the SPORTS Pack lineup:

SPECIALTY SPORT NETWORKS
FSN World
CSTV
NBATV

REGIONAL SPORTS NETWORKS
Comcast Sports Net (Mid-Atlantic)
Empire Sports Network
FSN OHIO
FSN NORTHWEST
FSN ARIZONA
FSN PITTSBURGH
FSN BAY AREA
FSN ROCKY MOUNTAIN
FSN CHICAGO
FSN SOUTH
FSN CINCINNATI
FSN SOUTHWEST
FSN DETROIT
FSN WEST
FSN FLORIDA
FSN WEST 2
FSN MIDWEST
Madison Square Garden (MSG)
FSN NEW ENGLAND
New England Sports Network
FSN NEW YORK
Sunshine Network
FSN NORTH
YES Network

DirecTV Sports Package:

Post by BelieveNBG »

You don't even have to keep it the entire month. You can have the sports package turned on for a couple of days and then have it turned back off. They will prorate the charges. As cheap as it it, you may as well keep it on for a couple of weeks since we have the Nov. 6th and 13th game on Fox Sports OH.

You have to buy the DirecTv "sports" package which basically gives you all the fox sports net stations from every region, plus a bunch of other sports channels. Last year it was only $12/month for the "sports pak" so I just ordered it during college football season and then cancelled it after the season was over. There's no committment to have it for more than 1 month as far as I know, and no penalty for cancelling it early. This year, I'm just planning to order it for November so I can get the BG/Western game (planning to go to the Marshall game).

Just looking to clarify... this game is part of ESPN plus, but not necessarily part of the "ESPN Game Plan" package? I have Comcast cable in Indy, and I'm pretty much realizing that they suck. I remember in Columbus, Time Warner had the option of paying $5-10 or so to get "out of region" regional cable, like was mentioned earlier with Direct TV. I don't think I have that option here.

What I'm getting at is if I go to a bar, its probably pretty likely they can find the game, right? Especially if I find one with the Direct TV package? After listening online to the scores pile up last Saturday, there's NO way I can let myself miss catching this one on TV!

EDIT: Apparently it *is* part of ESPN's Game Plan, and I can get it on my home cable!!! Of course, its 20 bucks and I have to leave for work before I could enjoy the whole day worth of games, but it might be worth it! (Plus it makes it easier for them to find in a bar!) :D

The other option, folks, is to call around to local sports bars and try to find one that has a KU-band satellite dish.

If your local bar has one of those jumbo dishes, you might be in luck. If they have a mini 18-inch dish, that's not gonna be a KU-band dish.

Anyway, if you find a place with a KU-band dish, ask them to dial up AMC 9, Transponder 14, KU band. Those are the coordinates for the game, according to mac-sports.com. The feed should be up at least 15 minutes prior to air time.

I was coming after you next!!! No work tonight??

I'm just glad its on ESPN Game Plan. It expands the options immensely! (As in I can probably find a smaller bar with better atmosphere than paying three arms and two legs for lunch at b-dubs and still have the Iowa alumni chapter among other "Big Ten Heads" filling the place up.

Besides, half the beer jockeys in bars can hardly work the remote for the DirectTV right, I can't imagine trying to explain what "C-band" is all about...

TG,

Make sure you call ahead. This game is going to be on ESPN+ and the ESPN Gameplan, but not part of actual ESPN/ESPN2, as I understand it. That means you will have to find a bar that has the ESPN gameplan in order to watch it at a bar. In my experience there is not one bar in BG that has the ESPN gameplan (although Downtown has the big dish and would get this game). The only bar around the BG area that I have found to have the ESPN Gameplan is the BW3 in Maumee on Dussel.

Apparently the College Gameplan doesn't bring in as many people as the NFL ticket does, and very few sports bars actually subscribe to it, they prefer to just show the games that are on the local Cable. Just thought I'd drop a heads up so you don't find yourself running from bar to bar on gameday.

cool. Thanks for the heads up, hammb. Though I think I found my answer. A friend of mine (who doesnt work weekends and can afford to get drunk on the couch watching a day of football) is likely gonna order up the game and I'll give him the cash for it. I figure by the time I get in and out of b-dubs, I'll have spent close to $20 anyway, right?

Besides, that way I can save my b-dubbin' for Sunday when the Browns knock Ben off his pedestal... :D

God, I hope the Browns knock Ben off his pedestal.... :?

Yeah, when I spend a day at B-dubs watching football I easily spend $20...heck I spend 10 if I'm not even drinking beer by the time I buy some food and a pop.

I'm in agreement with you about Ben. I'm sick and tired of everyone slathering over him. Yes, he's playing well, but my god they have the best rushing attack in the AFC, the best OL, and a darn good WR corps. He's playing well, and making the best from a good situation, but its not like he's putting the worst team in the league on his back or anything!

guys i have Dish Network with the Mutli sports package for 6 bucks a month that gets you all the Fox SPorts net channels, et cetera. You have to understand that just because its on FSN doesn't mean you will get it. Gameplan has Proprietary rights over that broadcast and therefore you MUST pay for it to get it even if you have the multi sports package through Dish. I see this all the time with the NBA games because of NBA League Pass having ownership over the game. Even if you get the local channel, if you are out of their viewing area then you wont' get the game. I promise you that this will work for Gameplan. I am going to buy it for 20 bucks because I dont' care, its just money and I want to see us kick their ass so badly. Wanted to pass this along to everyone.
