That was named the biggest rivalry in sports PERIOD by ESPN. it jsut seems to taint the tradition to me. especially since those big school dont need tha tmoney. Its a little different if they offered it to us and toledo. It looks like they will be showing that game regularly now every year. And talent has as little to do with the winner as osu/mich game. the difference is our school could use the money a LOT more. If they offered, Id say take it, but osu/um better have gotten a crap ton of money, b/c if they didnt get in excess of 1M each or more, then it jsut wasnt worth it to taint the game like that.
This in no way will taint the traditions. It IS the biggest rivalry and I know I'll still be watching along with millions. The only difference now is more SBC ads and logos everywhere. IMO, it's just more public getting to see how bad the suckeyes really are when Michigan derails them!!

I just wish we had a jazzier moniker. It's a great series. It deserves a great name.

Maybe the "Michigan-Ohio War?"

The University (sic) of Toledo would have been situated in Michigan were it not for the Michigan-Ohio War.

I'm reachin', I know.

But "World's Largest Cocktail Party?" That's a great nickname.

I believe that one is actually the "World's Largest OUTDOOR cocktail Party". :supz:

Hmmm....The "SBC" Michigan/OSU Classic? That's about as close to the "BCS" that the Luckeyes will be getting this year.

It's the rage in major college sports...follow the $$$$ trail. I don't like it but that's the way it is. As long as the OSU/UM game doesn't conflict with a BG game (and it won't this yr) I'll watch that game every year. IMO, it's the greatest college football rivalry. That game and the Army/Navy game are a must every year.

Sorry SBC...

UM and OSU did the right thing, IMO, and cancelled the deal with SBC. Tradition spoke out over money... I think I'm feeling faint...

Maybe they were tired of being called a bunch of money grabbing wankers.

I'm glad they didn't sell out...even though I dislike both teams, I just don't see the need to sponsor a big rivalry like that.

Oh like heck tradition won out. They simply got one to many phone calls from six figure donors who swore they'd yank money if they went through with it.

What we should be saying is: thank god to richer than heck donors with big arse bank accounts.

I saw an article where the Michigan AD said 80% of the phone calls they received were negative about the sponsorship.
