I agree that Kent isn't involved. I checked for the Nov 10 date right away and figured North Texas was the replacement.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:../ Navy coming here November 10, and then Navy hosting Kent on the 17th, so Kent has nothing to do with us losing this game, its either the deal was never finalized or North Texas (who they are now playing on the 10th) had a better offer

I hadn't heard a proposed date for Navy to come, just in November. Exact dates aside, I still maintain that it is Kent's fault because, well it doesn't really matter to me why, Kent is who I'm going to blame.Warthog wrote:I agree that Kent isn't involved. Reading stories to my children is probably more theraputic for me than it is for them.
Phew. For a moment, I thought I was losing perspective.Winnie-the-Pooh woke up suddenly in the middle of the night and listened. Then he got out of bed, and lit his candle, and stumped across the room to see if anybody was trying to get into his honey-cupboard, and they weren’t, so he stumped back again, blew out his candle, and got into bed.
FWIW, over at the MAC boards, Vandelay is reporting that it is very possible the MAC will play a seven game league schedule this year. I have no idea how that makes any sense. Then consider that we appear to be down to only two OOC games now with Navy gone and Boise probably gone. We may be looking for 3 freakin games yet. We will probably end up playing Temple in a non-conference game. Remember, you heard it here first.

I wonder how much more we're receiving for playing at Minnesota versus Pitt?
Instead of Pitt opening the season against Bowling Green, which opted out for a bigger payday at Minnesota, the Mid-American Conference provided Eastern Michigan (1-11) as a late substitute. The switch, Long said, comes with a perk: Bowling Green will now visit Heinz Field in 2008.
"It makes sense for us," Long said. "It wasn't just a straight replacement of Bowling Green. It was a deferral, so we picked up an additional Mid-American Conference game."

If we play a 1-AA team I think the best option would be to play someone local. If we have to drop down a division to find an opponent, for attendence sake why not play an Ohio team so it will spark a little interest and could be billed as some sort of loose rivalry. At least we'd get a handful of opposing fans in the stadium to make it fun.
I.E.....
Youngstown State (well maybe not since they are already at OSU)
or better....
Dayton (Youngstown State might beat us, but Dayton stinks and it would be a true "guarantee game.")
Just a thought.

A win over Dayton wouldn't count toward bowl eligibility since they are non-scholarship DI-AA, so that would never happen. Of course, what used to be true may not be anymore if the MAC would end up only playing 7 MAC games.
How about 3 home MAC games, 4 away MAC games, and 5 away OOC games?
What's Arkansas State up to these days? Maybe we can play a home-and-home series with them like we did for BB this year....

I think I've mentioned this before, but our recent I-AA games (SEMizzou, Liberty, Eastern Kentucky) have drawn pretty well, IIRC. I don't think we need a nearby school to draw well - if it's early in the season (and the weather is nice) and it's attached to something like Varsity BG Day, we'll do well with attendance.NY-BG-FAN wrote:If we play a 1-AA team I think the best option would be to play someone local.
