Where are the savings going down to DI-AA?
Few less scholarships? Less for coaching? Less for .......?

I just don't get this argument. Travel costs for the same conference would be the same if everyone stayed (doubt it) and more if replacement members were needed (what local AA are looking for a new conference?). The current coaches couldn't be paid that much more than the top 1-AA programs.

The updates to MAC football facilitie would not indicate to anyone that the schools within the conference are going backward. The boosters funding these projects would donate their money elsewhere in the future if they were fooled into thinking these projects were meant to move thier school forward and they ultimately moved backward.

These may be the feelings of many mid-major b-ball coaches (whether it was said or not) and great buzz for a little radio show.

Yeah, Wamer is pretty much an idiot. I listen because it's local sports talk, and that's about it.

He seems to have a good knowledge of baseball, and I guess boxing as well (but I don't know much about boxing to really refute his claims). He is fairly good with his baseball talk though.

His depth of knowledge in football & hoops (especially at the MAC level) is dwarfed by quite a few posters on this site, IMO. He's simply a fan who gets to talk sports for a living...he's certainly no authority on the subject.

I tried to call in after the BCS championship game last year. I jokingly started our conversation by asking how anyone could not enjoy watching the game. I tried to get into an X's & O's conversation about how badly Urban beat up Tressel in that regard. All I got was a "Well ya know they weren't ready to play because they had too many weeks off" type response and I got hung up on. It's pointless to really talk football with them.

They usually only discuss the MAC when they have BG or UT coaches on. The rest of the week they mostly talk pro/Big10 sports. Despite the fact that they TRY to show support for BG & Toledo, Norm lost me for good last year when he said that BG fans had too high of expectations. He stated that at Toledo it makes sense for them to expect to win every year, but BG fans should be happy if we compete for championships every few years, because just don't have the capacity to compete at the MAC level consistently. I tried to call in and refute his idiocy, but I couldn't get through. That pretty much cemented my feelings on Norm. He's an imbecile with a Microphone. I listen for local sports talk, but his insight is about as valuable as a pile of dog crap.

So is there any way to get a transcript of the show? That is really the only way to know what was said? A recording of the show would also work.

Norm is a mook...hammb is right he knows boxing and baseball and little else. He lost me a few weeks ago when he compared MMA fighting to barroom brawling....the guys fighting in the UFC have more skill than boxers do because they have to be able to defend against more....Joe Rogan would kick Norm's ass.

So far as his comments about BG and Toledo...I've heard him say the same type of things hammb has. He's a putz...a clueless putz regarding the MAC.

Why would those comments by Dakich surprise anyone, especially after he admitted on the radio last year that he told Brandon that the fans can go F themselves? He did very some good things here, but he said lots of things that should haven't been tolerated.

Since when is a top six finish in a bottom feeder league like the CCHA considered a lofty goal? If that's all you're hoping for you might just as well make it official and drop the program down to club level and save the $$ you're wasting on those kids that get all drunk and draw on each other with markers.

Not that I'm taking sides but since when does a bottom feeder leage have a national champion team? MSU took all of the marbles last year.

I heard back from Norm today and he plans to address this a little more on Thursday's show.

Norm says that he does read the message boards from time to time.

He said that Dan was implying that MAC football if it went to 1-AA could then get into the playoff format (which I assume Dan probably favors for all of college football) and that the teams would still get big paydays by playing the big schools. His basic reasoning is because MAC football attendance is not that great and you can't argue with that. However, dropping down to 1-AA would certainly not improve that.

Norm also stated that he does not cut people off (Hammb) unless he is out of time or the caller is rude. He would also like more people to call up and disagree with them (I assume this would make better radio).

We all know Dan's an outspoken guy who usually throws a lot against the wall when with Norm and that is probably why Norm has him on. Whether it is well thought out or not is a different story!

But that doesnt change anything, BG football will afull this season...At is a bad QB, GB is a bad head coach, but he was a great OC, hockey will be rebounding big time and have a good season ending mid pack. The MAC will never be a good D1A conference simply because of the monopolistic in charge wont let it. We need to get out, and play where parity and fair chance rule the day and championships are decided on the field of play...not by a bunch of prejudice morons in a booth, or by others...that is a popularity contest, not a football contest.
