Very classy program and fans, it was a pleasure to have BG in the house today!
MS04, we all had a great time up in E. Lansing today! You and the rest of the MSU fans were very, very gracious hosts, and that is always appreciated. I've always thought that you can judge a program based on the way it's fans act, and based on today's experience, I would say that MSU is top notch.

That was a slugfest today. Both teams have a lot to be proud of, and I think, a lot to look forward to. Good teams dominate from the start. Great teams are the ones that make adjustments in the second half. I think MSU is going places in the B10 under Dantonio.

Thanks for a great day, and best of luck to you guys the rest of the way!

I've never seen so many reviews that amounted to nothing. A couple of questions... the review on the fumble and the review on the fair catch interference - neither of those can actually be reviewed, correct?

I'm well done. I wore my hat all day so I have a nice hat line across my forehead. Oh well, it was near perfect weather to watch a football game. I will say that I thought we traveled pretty well.

Oh, and the era of kicker's with hot girlfriends continues.

On the PI calls:

These two plays righteously pissed off. I had seen similar stuff all day that hadn't been called, on both sides, when we get called. I wasn't happy at that point, but I saw where the call was made (after the ref pulled out his cell phone to call for a second opinion) The next play the MSU receiver gets turned around, practically rips the shoulder pads off our guy and nothing is called. My vantage point was right over the Side Judge's shoulder for both plays, so I know he saw what I saw. Had neither been called, I wouldn't have been that upset. Had both been called, Wouldn't have been that upset. But when one was called, and the other not, I came uncorked (ask Niz) I will qualify my statements in that the only replays I've seen were what was on the Jumbo Screen, but that was still enough to piss me the @@#!!! off.

To me, that was the straw that broke the camels back. Yes, we were on something of a slide coming to this point, but I very firmly believe that had we came up with stop (or the pick) that were going to get, we would have been easily able to fight back to at least a closer game, if not a win.

I laughed when I saw several "experts" pick us as a dark horse in the MAC this year. However after hearing what happened at Minn, and seeing what happened at MSU, I agree that we have a real chance. From here I want to see us beat the [expletive] out of Temple, beat the [expletive] out of Kent, and as always to beat Miami and Toledo. After getting embarrassed last year by both Temple and Kent, I want revenge

Kent got drilled by Kentucky tonight and Toledo's giving up points like lollipops at a doctors office. Miami(OH) may be as surprising as we are, with a close fought win at Ball State then coming back to take Minnesota to 3OT. Looks like they might have a bit of a QB controversy in the making, too. Akron's D may keep them in games if their effort today is anything to notice, but the offense, maybe not so much.

The KSU game score was a touch misleading. They dominated the first half but had 3 turnovers and only went into halftime tied up...they had a delay of game penalty that ran the clock off preventing a go ahead FG attempt at the end of the first half (they were inside the 10). Then they came out and got blitzed in the 2nd half...

Not us! :-D We were in the nosebleed upper deck, in the top row under the pressbox/suites side. we started the game partially shaded and ended it fully shaded. It was fantatic to sit up there in cool comfort (great breeze all game long) and watch the game!!! :-D And as I mentioned in a thread elsewhere, the Falcons were also complimented several times after the game by MSU fans. Obviously, the MSUfootball fans aren't related to MSU hockey fans!! I really kind of dreaded going up to the game because of my LONG standing hatred of the green and white from the hockey days of old, but the football fans proved me wrong. People were very friendly....although, all day I still had to fight the urge to yell, "GO GREEN, GO WHITE, GO SUCK AN EGG!!" :-D

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Beyond their intoxicated students before and after the game, most people were great to talk to. One guy I talked to at the half even came back down after the game to tell me how impressed he was with our team and the fans.

Aside from a couple of drunk students before the game and plenty of friendly hand gestures after, the fans were great. One guy even spent a couple of minutes trying to convince us to stay in E. Lansing and go out and party with some MSU fans.

One of their fans was impressed enough by us to insist upon having a full conversation at the urinals in Cracker Barrel... weird, but at least he was complimentary. (of the team. don't be weird. )

Talking about how classy State has been, when we were up at MSU for the women's basketball games, I got a chance to talk to an MSU prof. He has had several football players in a lot of classes throughout his years, and he said great compliments about how they have been since Dantonio came in. He said that the guys were more focused in class, more engaged in conversations, more attentive, and just better students, along with being better football players. Dantonio is a class act guy and coach and MSU continues to impress me. (And my brother is a Michigan alum - I bet he wouldn't appreciate me saying that ...)

And Vice Versa...MSU were the most cordial Big Ten fans I've been around. The parking crews were extremely helpful and the MSU fans were very complimentary BEFORE and after the game. MSU's depth got to us in the 4th...those DE's were quick, big and strong. I'd love to see MSU win the Big Ten. Dantonio will have that program at the top sooner than later.

We had a great time...

I completely agree. We certainly had our opportunities and this game could have went either way. Statistically, the game was about even. It's not the calls you get or don't get, but the ones that make a difference.
Sure, we got a break on the fumble, but it took so long to make the call that all momemtum had been lost. Furthermore; MSU was right back in the same position about 2 minutes later so no damage was done. The consecutive P.I./non P.I. calls were a different story.

Has anybody noticed that all the reviewed calls at MSU and Minnesota were the ones that went against them and not a single review that went against us.

Not previously mentioned about the Minnesota game was the reversal of a call when BG punted the ball in the 3rd quarter and it clearly hit a Minnesota player and was recovered by BG. If you also look at the clock at approximately 4:45 of the 3rd quarter, you will see a free run play by Minnesota where the clock never moved.

Also never mentioned in all the reviews on the 2003 Ohio State game is the Ohio State timekeeper running off the clock on BG. I can't believe nothing was ever challenged on this issue since it was so obvious. BG fans in the stands at that game game were screaming about the clock management. On BG's comback, after the referee started the clock and BG was lined up, the referee halted the play for an injured Ohio State player at the opposite side of the field from the Ohio State bench, but never stopped the clock! I did not realize until after the game when I was watching a local Columbus channel, that 6 seconds were run off the clock after the clock had been stopped for the last fumble during the unpiling. The announcer said "too bad BG". There was 1:38 left on the clock at the time of the fumble. Ohio State took a 25 second penalty and punted. Although time was put back on the clock after BG received the ball, what happened to the time between 1:38 and 51 seconds other than the 25 second penalty and kick?

What about the close call at the end of the game on Corey Partridge's non-touchdown at Wisconsin that was never reviewed?

I guess the overall point of my reply is that you have to beat these teams outright on the road because you are not going to get the calls.

A valiant effort by the BG team at Minnesota and MSU. I hope I did OK for my first post.
