One thing I will say is that it looks as though the coaching staff already has more faith in Tyler from a mental standpoint than they ever did with Omar back there. Gone is the ridiculous look to the sideline for audibles crap that has been a staple for the last 3 years.

Tyler may not be the passer that Omar was, and he's certainly not the runner that Harris was, but he doesn't need to be. What we need is him to develop the same leadership & mental capacity for the game that Harris had. That, combined with his strong arm and ability to throw on the move, will make him a great BG QB.
Nice summary, hammb. Like J5, Tyler has the chance to be a very strong leader. Maybe not the most vocal guy but at the end of the day, he'll do everything he can to get a win for his team. J5 just willed his team to wins at times. He "had" it. Tyler already has proven to me he "has" it. He is still learning how to be an effective college QB but so far, I love his "gunslinger" attitude that Vdub26Falcon talked about. He has all the physical tools and a pretty sharp mind. With more experience, that will become a very dangerous combo.

Tyler's grandmother Edna gave me a newspaper article yesterday written when Tyler was still a SR QB at Cincy LaSalle. And, for those that haven't met Edna, you are missing a diamond. Edna knows football and has been known to read all the stuff here so she knows what's going on. Better mind my manners!

The article talked about how Paul Brown always looked for guys with the "want to". Size, speed, stength are important but it was that inner burning desire to succeed consistently...that was the character trait Brown searched for. They just "had it". Guys like Otto Graham, Marion Motley, Jim Brown, Dante Lavelli and others. The author then talked about how Tyler has this same characteristic.

Though he's still young and needs work, Tyler is shaping into a very special player. He has "it".
