I wouldn't eat Frickers' food unless they were paying me AND it was being hand fed to me by naked playmates.Falconfreak90 wrote:If I were you, I'd stay away from Fricker's. The food has sucked the last couple times I was there and I won't be back.
Hi Falcon Fans!
I would settle for the Girls of the SEC, otherwise, playmates.Flipper wrote:Just to clarify...they have to be actual playmates...none of these "Girls of Enron" or Girls of _______ Conference" will work?
I don't like the food at Fricker's it makes my intestines behave in a manner that God did not intend.

How long ago was it that you ate at Frickers? I ask because I'll eat occasionally something from there when the Coaches Show is on. I can't say I've had anything there that has been BAD. I have had the burger, the wings (okay, B-Dubs are better albeit smaller) , the nachos and not much else. What did you eat when you where here?Falconfreak90 wrote:If I were you, I'd stay away from Fricker's. The food has sucked the last couple times I was there and I won't be back.
I wonder if BW3's could host the Coaches Show. On second though the parking is way too small. Even though I haven't had everything at Frickers , I still don't get why everyone here thinks there terrible.
Frickers food does seem to be a bit heavier on the greasy side I'll admit. That can mess with your stomach if you eat too much of that stuff.

Whenever I end up at Frickers (only happens if I get outvoted, usually post softball) I sit down and cannot find anything on the menu that looks interesting. It's all the same old crap. Wings should never be breaded, that is a law punishable by death in Buffalo, NY. You can order them naked, but you shouldn't have to. None of their wing sauces are anything special either. The burgers are not special. Their chicken chunks are always overcooked and dry as a bone whenever I've eaten them.
I'm not going to say it's the worst food in the world, because it's not, but they don't have anything on the menu that makes me want to eat there either. It's all a bunch of frozen then deep fried or thrown on the grill mediocre food and they don't do anything to make it stand out.
BW3 at least has the spicy garlic sauce which is wonderful and makes their mediocre food taste better.
As I've said on here countless times BG desperately needs a sportsbar type eatery that actually has above average food. It is not that difficult to make hand dipped onion rings & deep fried foods. It's not difficult to come up with some good sauces for wings/chicken chunks, etc. Frickers, BW3, etc, it's nothing but pre-cooked frozen crap that gets deep fried and served...most of it can be bought at GFS.
So I guess my point is not that it's not edible, as much as there is nothing there that I cannot do on my own for cheaper and better. Their menu also has no creativity and very little variety. Of course I haven't been to the one in BG in quite some time. The last few times I've gone to Frickers it's been after softball games at the Maumee location...my experience has been it's about the same as the one in BG though.
If I ever get so rich that I don't need to actually make money I'm going to open a sportsbar in BG. I'll have a real beer selection, and some real food. It's something that is sorely lacking in this town. That being said, we do have some awesome pizza places.

I find that Junction's food is a bit underrated....and not just because I work there.

A place to drink cold beers with Jessica Alba dancing on the main stage, sports on the tube, and the Oreo's deep fried 8)

BACK TO FOOD SUGGESTIONS!!
If you want authentic Italian, I recommend Cucina Di Betto in downtown BG on South Main St. Love the food!!! For Mexican, as someone else said, El Zarape is very good!! It's on East Wooster down from the I-75 exit. I also love the endless buffet at Pagliai's on South Main St.
Have a safe trip and be sure and stop by our tailgate area!! BGFan and I were in Bowling Green, Kentucky this summer!! We do find it quite amusing that it's pronounced BO-lin' Green down there!!
Mammoth Cave is AWESOME!!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Would these be,like, playmates from your childhood? Or Playmates? Cuz that first option would be really wierd unless you hung around with some girls who eventually became Playmates.hammb wrote:I wouldn't eat Frickers' food unless they were paying me AND it was being hand fed to me by naked playmates.Falconfreak90 wrote:If I were you, I'd stay away from Fricker's. Before or after tailgating....this thread is right up my alley. I drive a long way for the food in BG.
1) Trotters-Brown Jug is the best steak in Ohio. (Don't ask them for the recipe, they won't share it.) Get it medium-rare if you like some pink. They don't open until 5 on Saturdays. They have an appetizer that is pretty good, asiago cheese on baked lasagna noodles. If you are on a budget, their sandwiches and standard fair are well prepared and about 1/3 the price of the BJ. (Did I say that?) They pour a good Guinness and just about any other drink you want. Service can be slow when they are busy but it's a small dedicated staff and they are all working hard with a smile.
2) Mr. Spots-I remember the phone number from 15 years ago...meal deals are getting expensive ($9-9.50) but still worth it. Their waffle fries are the best around. If you are in the mood for a cold sub the Special is the best in my opinion, closely followed by Turkey. For me the Steak Hoagie is the hot sub of choice and my overall favorite. They also deliver beer if you just can't make it out. (with ID)
3) Lessor known is DiBenedetto's not far from the stadium, just west of McD's. They have some of the best values in town. A 6" warm Relay (most sandwiches are named after track events) can be had in less than 5 minutes with a soda for $5.50. I think they transferred their liquor license to their son for a more upscale place downtown so you can't get a beer anymore but Quarters is a few steps away.
4) Second to last, I agree with the narrow menu assessment for Frickers but I enjoy their staff, Erin is new behind the bar but catching on quickly. Meghan (sp?) is always there with a smile as well. Over the summer they had tall drafts for $2, you can't beat that. I enjoy the breaded wings in hot sauce although I know they are "catching up with my belly" so I try to limit them to once a month.
5) Lastly, ...if you go to Myles'-serving food later than almost any other place in town, be sure to get their garlic cheese loaf. Their pizza is one of a kind but the provolone and garlic loaf is out of this world. Also, don't order as much pizza as you normally would, this pie is serious food.
Sorry, just some food ramblings for our out of town friends....may the best team from Bowling Green win....

Truer words have never been spoken. I won't order wings outside western NY anymore. One time I asked the waitress, "Are the wings Buffalo Style?" I was assured they were. When they came they were breaded with no sauce on them.hammb wrote:. . . Wings should never be breaded, that is a law punishable by death in Buffalo, NY. . . .
