I'm on board, too. Either Ealey is in or people don't understand what a Hall of Fame is for.

She did write a column about this, published in USA Today, a few years ago. Not the HOF effort, specifically. I think her news peg was the fact that Miami (Florida) was on a crazy win streak heading into whatever bowl game Ohio State beat 'em in. She was recalling that Chuck Ealey led Toledo to a streak way beyond anything Miami (Florida) had ever done.

In other words, I think it ran around 2002.

I believe you're right Schad, I do recall reading something along those lines.

I will never support Chuck given he's from that hated grade school up north. As for Christine, her articles are all crap and not meant for any sports page but rather an opinion column. Keep chuck out!

so, you don't want the door opened up for some of BG's greats that may be "techically ineligible?

Actually I'm pretty sure he went to grade school down south, near Columbus. Probably was undefeated there as well. You might consider a switch of allegiance to OSU, bobio-you have the right mentality.

Gent, there is a time when you must hold yourself ABOVE the rivalry. Ealey beongs in the HOF regardless of his school affiliation. It's only football.

Ealey probably belongs in the HOF. I just think it stinks that this is what it takes to get it accomplished. $50,000???? Wow, is that really worth it? Chuck's accomplishments will never be diminished in my eyes regardless of whether some stupid rule is changed or not and regardless of whether he is enshrined.

The bigger story I would like to know more about is how Archie Manning got in.

+1

Great rivalries have a certain amount of respect involved.

That's just it. It appears as though they're willing to "bend the rules" for the big time boys, but not a guy who only won 35 games in a row at a lousy MAC school? BS!

I never saw Chuck Ealey play, but his accomplishments look as though he's certainly worthy of HoF induction. My thing is that this eligibility standard is ridiculous. The "approved" all american lists can change and often times those lists ignore smaller conferences anyways.

If you are a Heisman finalist you should be eligible for HoF voting, it's just that simple.
