If we add those 8, he is now 27/41, or 66%, and all of a sudden people aren't calling for his head. Heck, if they had caught those 5, we're talking about 59%, many more yards, and the potential for more points (completed passes do move the chains remember).
What's that saying? If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts we'd all be fat and happy???

If Sheehan didn't look lost when Partridge isn't on the field...

If we didn't send out someone to catch a punt who muffed one earlier...

If our defense could stop anybody...

If hammb was coaching ...

If the concessions would have had hot choc after halftime ...

If the refs would have called that play a fumble...

Should I go on?

We would douse him with a keg after winning the MAC. :-D

Please do...

The thing about the whole punt return deal is this...after we struggled so badly with the previous attempts to field one, why put ANYONE back there at all? Our field kills punts...watch the kickers warm up sometime, the ball hits and either bounces sideways or it comes back towards the kicker better than half the time....I have yet to see the ball scoot on our turf like it might on harder dirt or fake stuff. Maybe there's too much "grind" in it, but the field acts a bit like a sand trap.

If you put no one back there, the chances of the ball taking off and costing you 10-15 yards of field postion is pretty low. Seems like a safer bet than risking a fumble.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

That's why Denny Stolz used to call it the "punt catch" team, not the "punt return" team. Though it sounds like that wouldn't have helped Saturday, either.

Flip, so would you rush 11 and go for the block or just let the other team kick away?
