Anderson Arena is a shithole, I'll give you that. We need a new basketball arena very badly. But I don't have a big problem with the Ice Arena. Sure its old, but all the enclosed space allows for a ton of crowd noise even when we don't sell out. (Some use this argument for AA as well, but the attendance is always so bad it doesn't make any difference) The Ice Arena's locker room area is supposedly light years ahead of AA's, although I've never been inside either so I can't confirm that. I don't know, it just seems like the Ice Arena is a much more cozy arena to watch a game, with much better sight lines from the upper rows and from the corners than at Anderson Arena. Probably the one thing that bugs me most about AA (aside from the terrible bleachers on the student section side) is that wall behind the one basket. That thing just looks awful. You mean we couldn't knock that down and put in some stands behind the north basket or something. Anything but that friggin wall right behind the baseline, its 10x too close to the basket.dannyk wrote:Im afraid I disagree, have you seen the ice arena and Anderson Arena lately?
Our other facilities are pretty good. Perry Fieldhouse is a sweet facility, the Sebo is awesome, and the Doyt is a serviceable football stadium, although it is in need of some renovation. Beyond the money sports, the facilities for soccer, softball, and baseball all seem to be in good shape, and they just replaced the track (hallelujah on that one, that thing was a mess)
