We could play Toledo over Christmas Break and get 15,000. This is the best ending to the year in my opinion because if it were Akron on T-day weekend we would be luck to ge 6,000. As is this is almost a guarentee unless it rains rather than snows.

I convinced my friends Dan and Richard to make the trip up for the Akron game. I work with both and Dan is a 1992 (I think) grad of BG. Richard was saying at halftime "Your cats are looking great!". They drove up from NE OH.

The UT game will have 20K+ so why worry?

If BG is 7-4 and Toledo 6-5 going into this game, it could have big implications on who gets the 3rd MAC Bowl bid. I think the attendance will be good, especially if BG wins out and UT can win their next game. This game was looking pretty crappy 4 weeks ago, now it could quite possibly mean a lot to both programs. It should be fun.

the timing of the toledo game bums me out. i go up north over thanksgiving every year and thus couldn't watch the games a few years ago, then they move them back and i could go...all was right in the world, now they moved em again so that not only can i not be there, but i doubt i'll even be able to watch it on tv.... add the insanely early kickoff time and now i know for SURE i won't be able to watch it. i'm bummed.

as for others, i think the early kickoff will hurt attendance....i always think its ill-advised to have early kickoffs, but even more so when its a big game like this

Jeebus, Last I checked the kickoff is scheduled for 2:30....how is that considered an "early" kickoff? Seems like an ideal start time to me, especially for the UT game.

It's in the contract that the game can't start any later than 2:30, so the UT fans can make it back for "lights out" at the prison.

I think the scheduling has a lot to do with attendance. Of the first seven games this year, five were played on the road. And the weather conditions during Sept. and early Oct. are usually ideal for football ---- this was a lost opportunity to beef up the attendance. I know for certain that a lot of people didn't attend the Akron game because of the temperature. And many of those that did show up, left long before the game was over. It was just too frosty. ------- I haven't read all the posts on this subject (attendance) , so if this has already been touched on, I'm guilty of not having done my homework.

Like it or not, football is a cold-weather sport once you get past the first month. Not going to the game because its a little chilly amounts to being fair-weather. If we're playing at home, I don't care if its 0 outside, I'm going to find a way to make it to the Doyt. I've only missed 1 home game in my time at BGSU (the 2005 Ohio game on Fall Break) and I'll be darned if a little chill in the air is going to keep me from coming. It's just a darned shame that most BG fans don't share the same opinion on this issue.

This issue isn't as troubling as the people leaving at halftime. THAT, I have NEVER, EVER understood. If you're only going to come for 1/2 the game, why wouldn't you show up at halftime and watch the 2nd half when the game is decided. These people, many of whom are my fellow students, regularly leave at half/3rd quarter when the game is tied or within a one touchdown lead. Why on earth would anybody leave a close game like that?! I don't get it and I probably never will.

Normally I stay until the end of the game, but I had to leave the Akron game early because I had to work the next morning at 5am. So, when the time hit 10:00, I left and hit the sack when I had walked home.

I'll be in Dayton for Thanksgiving, but we're leaving Friday morning to come back to BG to watch the game. So, you can add 2 to the attendance figures for this game.

Who gives a flying frogs ass about attendance? If you are at the game, why do you care if only 10,000 other people are there. Go to the game, watch it, cheer, boo, eat way too expensive concessions and then go home. If there isn't anyone else there, it's their loss.

I only care because the NCAA seems compelled to "require" some arbitrary attendance requirement for 1A institutions. Fail to meet that requirement too often and we're no longer bowl eligible. For that reason, I'd like to keep our average over 15,000. Other than that if people don't want to watch our team play it's their loss.

I could care less if we lose 1A status. Cripes, I'll go to the games if we are NAIA. Anywho, I don't think the the NCAA will forcebly drop any institution because of attendance. They will just create another division for the BCS schools.

Yeah that is not early. The day after thanksgiving 2005 the Mouse had Kent play Akron at like 10am. Now that would be an early kickoff.

If Kent won that game at the Rubber Bowl the Falcons would have played NIU for the MAC title. . . instead the Zippers won and went on to win the title on a last second play.

I think that game was actually on Thanskgiving...I recall driving to my brother's house in Broadview Heights for our family get together in really bad weather while listening to that game. The radio guys were freaked out by some massive pile up of cars out by the Rubba Bowl.
