What is this all about?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dear Falcon Athletic Fans:
In coordination with the College of Health and Human Services and the Center for Responsible Action Policy (CRAP), the athletic deparment has announced a new series of regulations regarding tailgating food that will be permitted on University grounds.
“Public heath will be served by this progressive and innovative approach,” said Dr. Hugh Jass, Assistant to the Regional Manager of CRAP.
Kielbasa, cured meats and anything that could conceivably be served at an Oktoberfest gathering will not be permitted. Any variation of beef, lamb or dolphin will be confiscated on sight. Dishes that require butter and/or salt will be tossed into a controlled bonfire located off Poe Road.

Mike, Why do I feel this is a MAJOR "put on"? Especially the directive aimed at LUCAS County residents?Falconfreak90 wrote:I got this email today and not sure what to make of it...Can the University really do this?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Notice of increased public parking fees for Non-Wood County residents at Doyt L. Perry Stadium on November 23, 2007
Dear Falcon Athletic Fans:
In coordination with the College of Health and Human Services – Public and Allied Health Department, the Athletic Department has increased the parking fee at Doyt L. Perry Stadium for the football game against the University of Toledo on November 23, 2007. Passenger cars driven by licensed drivers from counties other than Wood County will be charged a parking fee of $10 in all public lots surrounding Doyt L. Perry Stadium for this game only.
“I think this is a tremendous initiative and should go a long way in curbing carbon emissions” stated Professor Rober Harr, MS, MT (ASCP) – Chair of Public and Allied Health Department. “This is the first step in our department plan to encourage the use of public transportation as well as car pooling. We thank the athletic department sincerely for jumping on board!”
“We realize that this might cause some concerns, especially for Lucas County residents” stated Assistant Athletic Director Jan Myers, “but we are confident that spectators will recognize our cooperation with the CHHS and support their fight of global warming by car-pooling for this game. This should also eliminate delays when leaving the stadium.”
Drivers should be prepared to show their driver’s licenses to parking lot attendants when arriving on game day. Parking fees for prior games this year were $5 per passenger vehicle and will remain $5 for all Wood County licensed drivers.
Sincerely,
Bowling Green Athletic Department
Anyone else get this? Does this mean since I live in Summit County I now have to pay $10 this Friday????I know it's only $5 extra but still. This global warming facade is going too far!!! And since when does BG have "Public Transportation"???? Please.
Oh well...I will get there early enough and get past this crap anyway! LOL!
Unreal.

I just checked my work account, and I got the same e-mail as well.
If true, this is just another cheap stunt for the University to take in more money in the guise of helping something else.
Good thing I will be parking for free across the street!
My guess is that it is some stunt being perpetrated by the chief rocket troll around here H2OVille Rocket or RangerRocket.
But don't worry, we will get even with all of them tomorrow morning. Just look to the north from the tailgating lot!

I mean, I believe the things we do result in climate change. Taking 5 dollars more from people who live out of country is gouging. The Uni could be a little more welcoming than this. I'm still undecided, but it i go; my plan is to just park by one of my old places and walk from there. It'll take me back a bit =p

Word is that OHP, Wood County Sheriff, BGPD, and BGSUPD have a BOLO out on a funny looking ambulance with yellow and blue flashing lights, a rockette logo on the side, and a nice satellite dish and grill in back.
If you see said vehicle, you are advised to approach cautiously and speak slowly as the inhabitants of the vehicle are said to be graduates of said institution up north. The driver of the vehicle is a former Army Ranger (bad mother.....well, he's a pretty righteous guy since he sold a number of us brown jerseys). But his friends that he travels with.........definitely the "Would you like fries with that?" type of people.

Where the hell is PETA when you actually need them?Zom wrote:No worries, chaps. Tom's OK.
These days, Tom's a happy man. Tom's "in the loop". You see, Tom's hip to global warming.
No. Tom doesn't have to pay the surcharge. Tom's got a zero carbon footprint. Tom doesn't need the Jambulance. Tom's got a camel, by George, and he's going to get on his camel and ride it today!

I hope this is a prank, if it isn't, shame on the U for using global warming as an excuse to extract more money from their football fans. If you wanna gouge because it's a big game, just gouge. A lot of pro teams charge more for big games, so it's not unheard of. But to say parking fees at one Friday afternoon event "should go a long way in curbing carbon emissions" is so lame it has to be a hoax.
The worst part will be the line will move sooooooooooooo slooooowwwww while they check your license to see where you're from. Moreover, folks who are used to paying $5 will rightfully question why they are paying $10 which will further slow the line. If there is a line down to 75 at kick-off, someone will be deserving of a flogging.
If it is a hoax it's a good one because it's far out, but not so far out it's easily dismissed.

Get even for what? Troll? What a hoot. You give me far too much credit if you think you need to get even with me for something. I am indeed amused. And can you be a troll when the owner of the site invites you to join his little community? I think a troll is usually somebody who comes on a site expressly to flame- you know about that, right, TOm?Redwingtom wrote:My guess is that it is some stunt being perpetrated by the chief rocket troll around here H2OVille Rocket or RangerRocket.
