33, seriously. I understand the origin of your neurosis, but for the love of God we are going to a bowl game already. I mean no offense by this, but your paranoia over our chances of going to a bowl game or not are getting close to being embarassing. We're going. Enough said. Enjoy the ride.

I am with 33. I have been around long enough to see BG get screwed in a variety of sports. With all of the 7 win teams and the craziness of the BCS, a loss by Miami would only help BG.
By the way, has anyone heard any legit interested bowls for us?

Absolutly. I've been to the baseball, football and hockey halls, and while nothing beats Cooperstown for overall experience and cool stuff to see (unless your're not a baseball fan) the Hockey Hall of Fame is much better than Canton. They have a great museum, and the Stanley Cup is on display there some of the time, and they actually let you touch it. I got a picture with it the last time I went to Toronto a few summers ago. Hopefully it will be there in January if we go to the IB. It's a definite must-see.Falcon Fanatic wrote:Bowling Green is mentioned in the HHoF in several places. There is an OLD Falcon jeresey hanging in there too...at least there was one when we went there. Seeing THE Cup with BG player's names on it is SOOOOO freakin' awesome!!! It's a very cool place to visit and the building it is in is very historic. If BG goes to the International Bowl, then I highly recommend the Hockey HoF as a sightseeing stop while up there!!!Dr. Reality wrote:And what does the Hockey-All-of Fame have to do with it?

There are 57 seven win teams right now, and possibly as many as four more could be added. All of those teams would be taken care of by conference tie-ins (Miami, UCLA, Cal and FAU). As far as the at-large bids we are discussing, I am using seven wins as bowl eligible in this post.
Right now, the Big East is waiting on what West Virginia and Louisville do to see what they are doing with their contracts. With WVU playing for the National Championship and Louisville playing for their bowl life this week. I'm finding different answers on how many bowls they have (including BCS). It may actually be as many as seven, which means the Big East has a couple open tie-ins with a Louisville loss.
The Sun Belt may or may not have two bowl eligible teams. If Florida Atlantic beats Troy this week, FAU gets the automatic bid as conference champ and Troy is looking for an at-large with 8 wins. An 8 win Troy may or may not be more deserving than a seven win Ball State.
The WAC may have an empty bowl if Hawai'i goes to the BCS. Nevada and Louisiana Tech play this weekend and the winner becomes the fourth bowl eligible team from the conference and fills all of their contract bowls. With Hawai'i not playing in a WAC bowl, they would be one team short.
If the ACC, Big East, Big Twelve, or Pac-10 (pending Arizona vs. Arizona State) have more than one team playing in a BCS bowl, they would not be able to fill their contract tie-ins. I think Hawai'i is in with a win and Kansas is a lock for an at-large bid. After that, who knows. Maybe USC? In that scenario, possibly three at large bids in other bowls open up.
The seven win teams with bowl games not guaranteed include - Ball State or Bowling Green from the MAC (pending Miami), ECU or Southern Miss from C-USA, Purdue or Michigan State from the Big Ten, TCU from the MWC and Western Kentucky.
For those of you worrying about BG not getting a bowl game, stop. Looking at the scenarios, we do not have to worry about anything. Even Ball State has little to worry about unless all hell breaks loose in a couple of games this weekend.
