Brandon is recruiting a 6'5", 210 lb. 3-star quarterback and you're bitching? My word, the inside of your head must be a veritable zoo of crazy hare-brained thoughts.
It makes sense to go after a Qb like this when you expect to lose a couple o players at this position. We aren't going to be losing a Qb ,unless the much bemoaned transfer of Nate Brown is imminent. Where else is a 6'5 210lb Qb going to play at 4.8 speed? Besides,I'm not "bitching" as you put it , only raising a bewildered eyebrow.
Dude, sometimes you just need to put the keyboard down.

Well put, Rollo. Anyone notice this kid's dad is Cliff Stoudt, who played 10 years in the NFL with the Steelers and a few other teams? I remember that dude from my days of being a Browns fan.

Nice size at 6'5" 210. Says he has an offer from Pitt.

If you've got options at QB, legit options, you aren't going to run into a situation like we had in 2006 where we had no QB that could throw more than 20 yards downfield. Say what you want about the special teams and defensive woes, the fact that we couldn't consistently pass the ball killed us in 2006. That was our only losing season this decade. I say you go after good QBs every chance you get.

And so what if the guy won't play for two years because of Sheehan? If he redshirts 2008 and sits 2009 as a RS freshman, the guy could possibly win the job in 2010 as a RS sophomore if he's really good.

With all our RB depth, if we had a chance to somehow get a **** or ***** running back with 4.5 speed, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Anybody with half a brain would.

Based solely on what I saw this season in the Dispatch and watching the state semifinal game - Stoudt put up some big time numbers. He had a pair of outstanding wide receivers (one going to OSU, another to Syracuse, I think) and the best LT prospect in the country (shockingly, going to OSU as well). There were a number of games where he did not play great until late, when he led his team to a W. He almost did the same in the state semifinal game.

They were down to Cincinnati St. X the entire game, but he led a long TD drive late in the fourth to get within 10-7. Coffman got the ball back after a couple possessions with a chance to win and he got them down to the 10, but completed a pass with under 10 seconds to go and the receiver could not get out of bounds to stop the clock. It seemed to me that he threw some ill-advised passes in that game based on his superior receivers, but the kid has a nice arm. Also ran the spread offense in high school and has good genes. Like many others have said, we can never have enough good QB options.

Stoudt verballed to Pitt yesterday...my nephew is from that area in Ohio...talk down there is that if Terelle Pryor doesn't go to OSU, Stoudt is getting an offer.

I like/enjoy hearing about the new recruits, what everybody has to say about this guy, that guy. It's always exciting. Please, however, leave out those dumb ass 40 yd times. They're meaningless, almost always grossly exaggerated and have, simply, no connection to reality. Just leave that tid-bit out of the descriptions. -- Do, however, get on with the rest of it.

Pitt is a very attractive situation for an upcoming quarterback.

They already start a true freshman, and he got to throw the ball a whole 19 times in his last game while turning around and handing it off to a running back the other 49 plays. He also gets to play in an 1/3 filled NFL stadium that gets its field torn apart by the Steelers and 50 high school games every November. Also, unlike BG, their last two starting quarterbacks have gone undrafted.

Besides the fact that Stoudt is the Nephew (I think) of Cliff Stoudt, who played mostly backup QB for the "Stillers"... I'm assuming that Pitt is HIS #1 choice, but sure can't fault Brandon for going hard after him....and, who knows, maybe Brown or Glaud can be used at other positions if this kid WERE to work out... We've sure done that a lot in the past when we have a good athlete who played QB in HS.... (Can you say Freddie Barnes?Or Anthony Turner?)

All our skill position players should run 4.25 40s and all of our linemen (offense and defense) MUST come out of high school at 6-6, 350 (preferably with a 40 time of 4.5 or better). Otherwise, how could we ever hope to earn a bowl berth.

Oh ... wait ... 8)
I know- that's why I didn't do my whole 40 yard dash rant including the links to ten websites that belittle the football world's inability to perform a simple task like timing someone. On the other hand the track obsessive in me couldn't let it go altogether.

Thanks for that, Den. Truth is, if line up with Turner, Barnes, Corey, Sheehan and Winovich on the field, we have at least five kids who came out of high school as a QB.

The son of Marvin Lewis is looking at BG, I do not know anything about him personally, but Marvin was at practice last night with his son and spoke with the team...

All I could find on Marcus is that he's a 6'0 205-pound linebacker. Other places have him listed at 5'10.

I think Dr Reality and H2Oville mentioned this kid earlier...they said he runs a 4.15 40.
